Fantastic lighting on this shot! Wonderful position showing off the Brown Hawker beautifully. The colors are beautiful. The light makes the bronze wings sparkle and the yellow flowers are wonderful seen thru the wings.

Well done, Nick. They are really hard to catch - the larger they are - the harder they are to find perched somewhere. But this image is great in detail, despite it being a little dark on the body. Wonderful sheen on the wings! Cheers, Klaus

The back light on wings and dark body makes a nice effect, but BG is a bit too complex and distracting for me to achieve all the beauty of the insect. The blue reflections look wonderful, and the structure of the wings is very well seen. Thanks MF.

Nick,
I think you were shooting in some challenging light but still managed to bring out some good detail on the dragonfly. It is nice and sharp. The natural backlight gave you a nice effect on the wings. The background is a bit busy so the dragonfly but I don't think this dragonfly has a habit of choosing a perch that would isolate it and give the kind of background that makes it stand out. I think you did and excellent job under the circumstances.

You've done well in spite of the difficult lighting conditions..I tried this yesterday, shooting a dragon in shade, with hard backlight from the afternoon sun..
Nice DOF, sharp details, and warm colors.
