Hi Niek,
A fine photo. The color is fabulous and the reflection, mirrior like. The composition draws you into the center. Very well captured.

It may very well be that the darker tones make you uncomfortable or, as you say: the static "square" composition.
Nonetheless I like the mood here

Hello Niek,
A lovely image, capturing that somewhat sinister mood I'm sure existed around the lake at this particular time...
Well composed presentation, and the calmness of the water is awesome, almost like warning about worse weather to come!
Greetings,
Pablo -
Hi Niek. Hope you are feeling a bit better. The image is a bit dark... to match your mood... but there are bright spots too... so thing are "looking up" as they say.
I doubt that you used any filter on this shot. The lights seem equally bright in the sky and in the reflection. The polarizer, if you used one, wasn't set for much effect, as the sky is not really very saturated with a CP effect... and the reflections are sharp. The glasslike water surface is really special.
I tried a different crop just for fun. I didn't touch the values or anything, just did a crop.

Hi Niek,
For my part I love the mood of this evening picture. Superb contrast and water reflection. The play of light is nice with the dark portion and the sun shined part in the BG. I also like the wooden structure in the composition. TFS.

Hi Niek,
Perfect weather conditions for taking a photo by the looks that water is dead calm and has allowed you to get an almost perfect reflection in the water. The reflection of the mountain and the actual mountain itself on the left of the photo makes for some good leading lines in your photo.
regards
Matt.

Hi Niek,
I love the shot - the change of light and colours, the mystic atmosphere, everything is wonderful. The sticks in the back are the eyecatcher and give life to the shot. Thanks and greetings

Hi Niek
Sorry to hear you are not feeling great either... In some ways I prefer you version to mine, but the colours are a little out of both our pictures I think... but the light down Loch Etive is always very difficult becuase of the steep mountains on both sides...
You did have the CP filter on for most, if not all of the shots of Loch Etive, it was what was needed whilst we were there...
Anyhow, I love the reflection in yours, you can see more of the detail of the bottom of the loch which just adds that little something extra rather than being a straight refelction and the seaweed is better placed in your picture.
Hope you feel better soon..

Perfect symetry from the one who knows..you! It is almost a mathematical equation of duality. Great science as well as fine click!

Hi Niek,
well it works for me. Both dark and bright areas in this shot combine to demonstrate the vastly changeable weather that you i'm sure experienced in Scotland first hand. The symmetry is well composed around the frame to make the most of the cloud layout and of course, it'd clear andd sharp throughout.
Sorry to hear you've not been at your best, hope you're week ahead is a much better one.

Kida freaky, Niek! The structure and the hills on the right are a bit surreal. And then the minimalist setting with reflection on the left seems like a completely different kind of a feeling. I think it's a good record of what you saw, but I can see how it's a little confusing and unsettling. Maybe a composition with the structure on the left, or a tighter shot? Hmm, this one may give me nightmares...

Hello Niek.
You should feel good about it, it's beautiful. Yes it's a little diffrent to Emmas, but the reflections are awesome. The dark mountain in my opinion adds a dramatic feel to the scene. And I like the silhouette of that structure and the cloud shaddows on the hillside. I hope this makes you feel better. Hope you're well soon.
Best regards, Steve.

Hi Niek
I am sorry to hear that you have been poorly but I'm glad to hear that now you are on the road to recovery.
I don't know why you are not sure of this shot. I like it a lot. It has a eerie feel to it. The way the light falls draws the eye right to the centre.
Take care, have lots of rest and drink plenty of water

Hey Niek,
The title is totally wrong! (Though I know your note is talking about something other than the image itself...) Your feelings about this image are false, because I think this is perfect. The clouds add a nice touch of dramatics.... furthermore the colours and the POV all increase the aesthetic value of this scene. Really beautiful place/image, I'd love to see it with my own eyes one day! TFS.

Hi Niek. Not too much ugly about this scenery! It is a well composed lake view with perfect reflections which are always a good thing to enhance any photo. Sharp as a pin. TFS. Murray.

Hallo Niek,
Uitstekend plaatje. Prettige dag en tot TFS Bob
