I do like this photograph! It is so beautifully composed and it is possible to see every little detail on the nuthatch! What determination there is - that little fellow is going to get that nut!

Lovely shot of this nuthatch. Wonderful DOF giving that lovely dark green BG. Pin sharp, great POV and wonderful pose.

Nice idea to keep some peanuts in your pocket. I usually have some seed in my pocket when I wander around Arundel but only to feed a friendly pheasant that likes to eat from my hand. I have been known to put some down neer the bank vole holes as well :)

Hi Nick,
Great catch for you as well as the bird.
Excellent square frame and composition with the diagonall line of the bird.
Only thing I personally would have changed is cropping a small part of top and the left side to loose the darker spot at the upper left corner and to get the Nuthatch a little mor off centered.
Technically perfect work with excellent sharpness, DOF and lighting.
The soft green and brown color tones in the background against with the tree trunk and bird do stand out perfectly are very pleasing.
Colors and feather details are most wonderful.

i recognise that log! I see you have back to your old stomping ground ;o) Super shot with the digonal composition, love plain green BG and detail. I recieved my Sigma 500mm on Tuesday...dying to get out and use it but the light has been rubbish...fingers crossed for the w/e, it's upposed to be a good one!

Great composition on the piece of wood - that diagonal is nice.
