I have just bought myself a Tamron 180mm macro lens and thought I would try it out locally. The local Nuclear Power Station has a nature reserve attached to it so I went to try my luck there on what was a dull day. Sheltering under a bush from a light shower I found this delightful Thistle, fully open,(Thanks to 'LordPotty' I now know it is a Centaurea montana, a variety of the cornflower family) and so tried a few pictures. The grass stalk across the top is a bit intrusive but I am happy with the flower itself. See what you think.
Camera settings.
Lens - Tamron 180mm macro, ISO 400, 180mm focal length, Metering - Pattern, Auto exosure, Auto White Balance. |

Hi Peter,
Your lens works well ... this is a beautifully clear shot.
Its not a thistle though.
I believe what were looking at is Centaurea montana, a variety of the cornflower family.
Very nice photo though.
Well done.
Steve

Hi Peter, I love the pov on this Thistle flower, it is so crisp and sharp against a perfect dof. Your new lens seems to be doing a good job. Light, colour and intricate detail is amazing. Great shot all round!
