Hi Emma,
I got your e-mail and will respond to it a bit later. Sorry to read about the health but good to read that you got your new camera. I am surely not going to be able to get it soon. Still not sure what to by first, new lens or camera.
If this is a photo straight from the camera, than it looks like the camera is producing some top quality photos. The shear amount of details and the richness in the colors in awesome. The lens did its job excellent as well. It looks like the macro course payed off. A perfect DOF.
TFS,
Niek

Hello,
I congratulate Canon 40D Emma. I unfortunately stays still with its own analogues. I became fond the photographic film though my pocket of unfortunately this do not accept. First picture is surely conforming with Your expectations. It is well. Successful lights, good colours and very nice sharpness. Pleases very much to me composition of this picture.
Best regards from Poznan,

Lucky you two times.....very sharp of course one has to be an idiot not to get a sharp picture from such a wonderful camera, but mostly not edited? Then supreme! You should be excited for the nicer days and good health.

Hi Emma,
So good to catch your first picture with the new camera!
Congratulations for it!
I like the clear details and rich patterns you got on the butterfly, as well as the vertical composition made to fit it into.
Well done and thanks for post it.
I hope you recover pretty soon.
My best regards,
JM

A wonderful toy you've got there, Emma. I hope it motivates you to get feeling better and get out more. I think this is a great first outing. I love the details in this guy. As for the exposure, I sure you'll figure it out as you go along, but it reminds me of my cmera. My D50 metering seems to be a bit off, and this is really a problem with mostly dark shots with bits of light area like this one. In these cases I tend to adjust to a -2.0 compensation.

Hello Emma.
Sorry to hear you're not well. Nothing like a little 'retail therapy' to take your mind off it ;) Especially when you ended up with a 40D! Well done. Great first post. Great sharpness. Lovely macro study. Well seen. Get well soon.
Best regards, Steve.
Hello Emma,
So what do you think of the 40D so far?
Excellent exposure, DOF, colors, and details here..Hope you feel better soon.
Very well done.
Howard
PS - With stills like this, along with the tripod, I would suggest to use the mirror-lock function and a remote wire when you get down to the very slow shutter speeds.

I am so glad that you got a new 40D!! At least that is a bright spot in an otherwise dreary time in your life. I sure hope things turn around for you soon.
The photo is super... nice detail and sharpness. I played with a 40D for a long while yesterday at a large photo meet. I'm not sure about the lack of auto focus in the live view mode... then again I'm not sure I would use live view. I do like a lot of the features better than the 30D. It is a large camera.
Take care,
Evelynn : )

Oh... You have this camera that I'm thinking a lot about recently :) This is a very nice macro of a beautiful specie. You caught a nice pose from your lovely model, great details in a good composition. Who cares about the background? ;) Thanks,
Claudine

Hi Emma,
Congrats on your new camera and thank you for this first image and your kind words about my Bluffs post.
You have the camera I have been eyeing also. The wife says" It ain't gonna happen." Oh well I can dream... :-)
You captured wonderful rich colors and detail with this shot.
Hope you get well soon and some good light and get out and grab some more of those awesome landscapes you have given us in the past and more beauties like these.
TFS
Richard
