Sunset at Durdle Dor in Dorset. The sun is setting behind me in this shot but the low light is casting some warm colours on the rocks. This place is often photographed and I suspect it has been done much better than this but I could not resist the chance to watch the sunset from this beach. I actually acquired a small dog whilst taking these photos. A little brown dog came and nestled against my side and sat watching the waves with me for a good 20 mins before his embarrased owner came and dragged him away :)

Durdle Door (or "the hill with a hole") is a natural rock arch, which is a remnant of a hard limestone cliff, protecting the chalk behind. Apart from a few outlying rocks, all the limestone west of here has gone and the sea is slowly eating into the chalk ridge. Eventually the bays from Durdle Door to Lulworth and beyond into Warbarrow Bay will merge, leaving a remnant reef offshore.

Hi Karan,
Outstanding shot and the warm dying sunrays give it a golden touch. Beautiful scene and you have presented it with such sharp details and superb effects. The ragged cliff and the subtle waves looks fabulous. Excellent POV to portray this charming scene and very nicely composed. Kudos.

Hi Karan,
invitingly clear, simple and beautiful presentation.
A most pleasant atmosphere you are sharing here. Well balanced, rhythmical composition by the shapes of the rocks that have been made impressively well visible by the last rays of sun. And a nicely told simple story about the dog as your compagnion.
Thank you! With best regards,
Peter

Hi Karen,
Nice work , the textures of the rocks is very pretty. The suns warmth on the rocks is very evident ..nice work. TFS

Hi Karan,
I love the very rich color on the cliff. The sun really made these colors pop. The details in the cliff and Dor are most wonderful and the soft shades really helped to bring them all out. The composition is very effective and has a great leadline from the shore. I like the humans in the photo as well since they give me a better idea of the size of the Dor.
It might be the lousy monitor at work, but it looks like the very front if the photo is a bit soft in focus. Do you remember where you put your focal point? I think it might have been a bit too far into the scenery. But, all might be different, when I look at this photo again back home.
TFS,
Niek
