[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The Barbary Macaque (Macaca sylvanus) is a tail-less macaque. Found in the Atlas Mountains of Algeria and Morocco with a small, possibly introduced, population in Gibraltar, the Barbary Macaque is one of the best-known Old World monkey species. Besides humans, they are the only primates that live freely in Europe. Although the species is commonly referred to as the "Barbary Ape", the Barbary Macaque is a true monkey, not an ape. Confusion as to the name could have arisen from the fact that apes are tailless, as is the Barbary Macaque.

Hi Dean, a very nice photo. A sensual capture of the little guy. Colors and tone are very nice. The softness in the background draws our attention to the monkey and we really see him. A very nice compostion and good work, thanks.

Hi Dean,

I've seen Barbary Apes but never a Barbary Macaque. Great shot in a wonderful pose. I love the expression on his face. He must see something he finds very intriguing. Face, ears, neck and feet are wonderful with all the details. Nice natural color. TFS

Hello Dean,
The moment I saw this photo I thought: Wow, that's fragile! Not only the Macaque, but also the light and colours. It all belongs together. Brilliant. Fantastic sharpness, POV and composition.

Hi Dean,
An amazing beautiful picture. The expression on his face is really natural. The position of this young monkey on tree is simply lovely. Excellent focus and fine details. BF and DOF are perfect.
