[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Waiting unsuccessfully for the appearance of the Pine Martin on my second visit to the Scottish hide I spotted this Badger snuffling round the ground under the feeding table. Although the light was very poor I managed to get a picture when it stopped moving around for a second. I had been following it around with the camera mounted on a tripod and when it stopped, I fired.
I have lightened the picture in Elements 3, saturated the colour slightly and applied a little unmask sharp.
Camera settings:- ISO 1600, AV, Spot metering, Auto exposure, White Balance - Tungsten, 175 mm focal length and a remote shutter cord.

Wonderful details, here. I've never seen a badger (though I look for them frequently!), and in this case, your persistence paid off. This is a well done photo given the circumstances. I love the detail of his front claws and the sparkle in this eye. His markings are quite contrasting, aren't they? Nicely done.

Hello Peter,
that is just great. I have been trying to get a picture of a badger myself. But aparrantly I haven't visited the right places yet. This looks great. Fine image!

Hi Peter, this is a great shot. Badgers are so hard to photograph and you managed this one very well. Your camera settings worked well as the Badger is well lit with great detail and colour. Good work.

Hello Peter,
Quite sharp for 2.8 and 1/5....
Wait a minute, you talk about tungsten, did you use lamps?
Wonderful animal; can't remember seeing one here let alone in the wild...

Difficult to shoot at 1/5 sec. Brilliant outcome with a hard to see animal.
