Hey Deborah,
what a great portrait of this tufted duck. The yellow eye comes out really great . I like the angle under which you managed to 'shoot' the duck. Because the tuft is behind the head it almost seems like a bald tufted duck :-)

p.s. there is a large group of Tufted Ducks in an old gravel pit near where I live. I often go there and I try to photograph these little ducks but I can't get anywhere near them because they paddle away whenever I get close.
Do you have any techniques on sneaking up on them or something?

We get plenty of Tufted Ducks here too. I think they'r great fun to watch. It's amazing how long their necks get when they stretch like this one is doing! Excellent capture in nice light that makes the plumage glisten. Great sharpness and fine colours too.

it amazes me yet that in one of the world's largest urban areas you can still see animals like this pretty boy,that is a positive sign.Your photos give us all hope for our wild friends as they can adapt to our artificial world and flourish.Here in Canada we do have these ducks as well but I have yet to see one as they are fairly rare here.He has a vivid eye and your capture of him shows good detail,colour and focus. Thanks for giving us this view,I'm fond of ducks of all sorts. Bob
