Hi Paul
I am running out of superlatives! The composition is again outstanding. The curves of the beach and waves leading to the chalk cliff lit by sun are wonderful. The lighting is great - especially the light shining through the wave. The Isle of Portland on the horizon adds interest as well.
The colours as usual are wonderful.
James
PS Durdle can also mean 'to jump' - I spent hours having to research place and field names :(

Hello Paul,
Amazing. I do love the light in this work. For instance it makes the waves very beautiful.
Can't see the shutter speed in your data but it must be the effective one...

Hi Paul,
Wonderful shot with a fantastic glow on the cliff face and and subtle effect on the FG sand. Very charming view and your low POV has created a superb visual treat. Great DOF and very nicely composed. Kudos.

Hi Paul,
This is an amazing low POV that creates the impression that I can touch the water and texture of the beach. I like this composition very much and what to say about exposure, colors and DOF, just perfect! This is sooo beautiful! TFS,

This is fantastic!
Great use of the morning light in a composition that can't be better! The gentle breakers are beautifully aligned to compliment the shape of the cliffs down to the headland. The shadow of Durdle door helps to highlight the sunshine on the cliffs and the darkness in the sky that must have come with the light management also helps in the same way.
Wonderful, Paul!
You are a very skillful landscape photographer and I am not the only one made happy by sights such as this!
Ivan
Still no sunshine :( but photographed a rare phalerope that I'll post one of these days and the poor light allowed some degree of success.

Here is something ...as you said "Old English word " thirl ", meaning to pierce (as in " nostril ")." I have also learned lately that Perce means pierced (nɛzˈpɝs) ed if I remember rightly...as in the Nez Perce Indians.
In England there is lots of room for legend, myth and such as we do not have here. Indigenous people passed most things down orally. A few did mark on dwellings and left artifacts, but no written history for folks to explore..so you can have a wide open imagination and embellish until you dig deeper...
An interesting almost reflected way of posing this story on the gateway or door.. There must be quite some history behind it...but I like the method of presentation. It reminds me of the question of what makes a wheel hub...Is it the tangible parts or the part in which there is nothing...one could say that about many frames of reference...so you in your image create a sort of "free frame of reference"...

WOW! What an interesting panoramic POV with so vivid colours! Once again "mobile" sea and bank of the sea allowed you to take fantastic photo. I like some shadows visible on the beach and their contrast with yellow-orange tones of the sand :)
Another fantastic work Paul!

Goodevening Paul,
Your composition is again outstanding. The sun must be standing in a very low position, i think. The lightning shining trough the waves is marvelous. The shadow at the FG and on top of the rocks is splendid. It leadings to the chalk cliff. And the transition from light to dark blue sky is also remarkably good. It makes the contrast between light and dark just perfect. Well done. Regards and TFS BOB
Hi Paul!
You present us a very beautiful landscape picture, held in marvellous colours and a perfect lighting. I like the details in the foreground very much and also the way how the lines of the waves lead us into the picture.
I just wonder what the dark, almost black part in the sky above the illuminated rock is. It contrasts with the rest of the sky which is blue. Is it a cloud?
Kind regards
Markus

Hi Paul. A very good use of interesting foreground in this beachscape. The bright sun on the main subject of the tall cliffs give it a bright finish. TFS. Murray.
Hi Paul
Another shot that has them all! Simply gorgeous!
You positioning here, in the shadow of the Door was a very inspired and gave you not only a great view but also terrific conditions for such a beautiful shot.
I'll take them one by one:
The FG: i really like the small grain given by the little, round colorful stones on the beach but i also like the contrast between left and right - wet and reflecting on one side and colorful and perfectly sharp on the other.
Middle: the waves look great as well as the marks they leave on the beach as they go back; also the fact that you have some sun there is very good.
BG: the horizon line is very nice and the fact that you were lucky enough to have some very small clouds in the sky is really great. Of course the cliff on the tight is spectacular and really brightens up the entire scene.
All-in-all: a magnificent job my friend!
Bravo and TFS

The light in this shot is beautiful as is the curve of the surf. You might try turning the polarizer a little off of maximum effect to avoid the over saturated sky in the center. Polarizers work best on vertical compositions I think.

Hi Paul, I saw this fab shot earlier, but got dragged away. I am very impressed with the incredible detail, texture and light on the water, even the foam on the shore has good detail. The light was interesting and you caught it very well, again with a nice low pov and perspective. Very nicely composed with good focus and careful exposure, both on light and shadows. You are an inspiration and I will start photographing landscapes when the weather looks better.

Hello Paul,
A truly wonderful capture of this coastline with Durdle Door casting its shadow across the beach. Beautiful light and colours and excellent depth of focus following the coastline to the far end. I can almost here the sound of the waves in their constant movement dragging the little pebbles back and forth. An excellent composition too.
Many thanks and have a nice weekend, Ulla

Hello Paul,
The idea to take your shot from the shadow into the light is great. I like the play of shadow and light visible on the sand. And again a beautifil low point of view. That always makes a spectacular picture.
Thanks and best regards

Hi Paul,
A very original point. If footsteps were able to last for ever, many photographers footsteps would now be visable in this photo. Including those of Karan, Paul and Miles.
The fact that you were standing in the shadow gave you a very good exposed photo and a natural way of leading the eyes into the distance. The details on the rock and surf are magnificent. I love the way the sun has created these very rich colors.
TFS,
Niek
