The Linn Falls undoubtedly had mystical connotations for the ancient Celts of these parts. The thickly wooded slopes contain oaks, alders and rowan trees, all of religious significance to the Druids who worshipped there. Stories about the evil spirits who supposedly inhabited the falls were handed down through the years, some local people fearing to go there in case they were lured to a watery grave. Even today there is a sense of the supernatural surrounding this beautiful setting

Also known as Linn of Ruthrie (the word "linn" means waterfall or the pool into which a waterfall cascades), it is the River Lour's last fling before it joins the Spey.

I thought I posted another photo of this wonderful spot. I must have spend here close to an hour, just enjoying the constant noise of the water and the wonderful nature. Soon after this photo I got my wake up call.....low battery.

shutter speeds shows 3 seconds, but is 2.5 seconds. Its not in the list

Hello again my friend

I can see why such a place would evoke such myths and legends...it's so typical celtic...medieval :)
I think that not only the waterfall is what brings all these feelings alive here, but the thick, dark and old forest around it as well. Such forests were farley common throughout the entire Britain in those days and they were full of wild animals plus probably outlaws hiding which definitely gave the visitors a good scare from time to time.
Surely, such a place is even more meaningful since it has that water splashing sound resonating through a person's bones, with of course adds to the emotions the entire scenery gives you.

Leaving those days aside, i'm sure you felt in your element here and managed to relax and still take a lot of nice photos.
This one is a superb one, with a great composition, exceptional attention given to both the FG and the BG and spot-on exposure throughout the whole depth.
I do however feel that it's a bit tilted to the left...am i wrong?

Cheers and TFS
Horia

Great posting. The composition is beautiful - I love the juxtaposition of the blurred water and the greens.

Bonjour Niek,

Bravo pour cette belle composition.
Merci.

Hi Niek,

This is another of your well thought out compositions. It is nice. I like the peaceful effect of the slow shutter speed on the water though the leaves may have moved a bit. I didn't notice anything amiss with the tilt until Horia pointed it out; now I'm not sure either. exposure is perfect. I am glad your battery gave you a wake up call so the spirits couldn't work their magic on you!!

Un vrai paysage d'Eden !
Bonne journée.

Hi Niek!

Even if I don't like these effects of the blurred water too much, I must say that from the technical point of view the picture is well made: the lighting management, although the bright tones are a bit too bright, is fine, the composition is perfect and the spot very well chosen.

Kind regards

Markus

Very attractive low point of view, with a nice shutter speed. A beautiful place indeed.

Hi Niek,
Wonderful shot and a great view presented deftly. The silky waters look fantastic and its motion and the boulders look awesome among the dense forest cover. Great light management and exposure levels with lovely natural colours. Excellent POV to portray this natural surrounding and very nicely composed. Kudos.

Hi Niek

It does look like a special place, you can understand why there are myths and legends about the place. This is a beautiful shot with the low POV, great FG details and perfect exposure. It needs to be illustrating a book of myths

Hallo Niek
This is just another beautiful landscape photo that popped up on my screen. This striking waterfall is a stunning scenery, and I am in no doubt you enjoyed photographing it, as much as I have looking at it. I am sure you could smell the freshness and the spray of the falling water, and I can imagine the awesome feeling you had being so close to such view. I have many times admired scenes like this one, paging through books. Unfortunately for us to see a waterfall, we have to drive quite far inland. Thanks for sharing. Enjoy your weekend.
Kind regards
Anna

Hi Niek,
Gorgeous waterfall. The exposure is well executed showing both dak and light tones at it's optimal peak. Ive been spending some time photographing waterfalls lately, they convey a strong appeal to my liking as your picture did.
Paul :)
