Hi Debz,
All of the many hues of blue and shades of white simply make this a delightful image. Could not have been done without perfect exposure and focus. BG is very complimentary to the Gull. Very nice work.

I love this shot of the gull!! Perfect pose and as you said, perfect lighting. The colors are magnificent. The details are razor sharp. The feathers and the face are amazing. The background is a dream. A favorite of mine for sure.

birds always look so clean because they preen and preen and the bird in this shot is well seen.You are so very right about good light making all the difference in the outcome of a photo shoot.In this shot you have very nice side lighting that makes the animal look more 3D like and that pose is not run of the mill either as it adds interest to a common subject.An excellent focus,great colour and a fab point of view bring this gull to life.I like it. I like the pose and the clear winter light. The gull stands out well because of the low light and shadows. The detail in every feather is great.

We have a lot of Black-Headed Gulls in Cambridgeshire, but interestingly, we now have increasing numbers of Lesser Black-Backed Gulls too.

Great DOF that gives the BG a nice blur and so doen't distract from the gull.

What a swanky Gull you have here. A lovely image to look at. A beautiful close up filled with a variety of details. I just love the orange legs and snow white plumage at the bottom of its body. I like the way the bird is grooming itself and the pose you have managed to capture is really eye-catching. A very special moment. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Debz,
Superb work. Spot-on exposure in what could have been a difficult situation. That in turn renders some great detail, sharpness is perfect (for my eyes at least :-)) I don't think it's oversharpened, I don't see any halo effect anywhere. Looks right on the mark to me. As you say light is great and good colour too. Nice offset composition, nothing I could even suggest to improve this.
