[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Hello,

firstly may i apologise for not being around much in the past couple of weeks. The holiday season seems to have kept me quite busy and combined with poor weather for photography, i haven't had much time or anything of note to share. Hopefully this will change in the New Year!

So, this is Ladram Bay, right at the western extremity of what is known as the 'Jurassic Coast', where i went today in search of something inspiring to shoot. In truth, this area is actually formed during the relatively younger Triassic Period, which was 250-200 million years ago.
The Triassic period begins in the wake of the greatest mass extinction of all time. Only about 4 per cent of known species survive from the preceding Permian period.

The world at the time is a single land mass called Pangaea and what is now the Jurassic Coast lies at the arid centre of this super-continent. Mountains to the south and west are the source of huge rivers that wash stones across the area before their waters evaporate. The period is characterised by red-coloured sandstone and mud, which you can see in the Sea Stack here.

By the end of the period the continental plates had started to drift apart. There also emerge the dinosaurs, pterosaurs, marine reptiles and crocodiles, turtles and mammals. Many excellent specimens of large reptile have been found here, including the Devon Rhynasaur.

Unfortunately, as usual the bright sunny morning turned into a day of grey dullness...so the bright red sanstone here is a bit of a flat affair and not glowing in the winters sun as i had hoped. But, i drove for 3 hours to get here, so i am going to share something with you, even if it's not the best!

The one hole almost looks like a blow hole. We had those on the Pacific Coast...but only a fews...A nice image of the powerful water, done as only you do so well..even with low contrast. I think low contrast sets a mood...it is a seasonal thing for England don't ya know....Well done sir..and HNY to U!

with what light was available you have still made for a very moody shot that clearly shows the weather the south has, and you have done better than most of us becuase I am using older photos from pre Christmas in the nice icy foggy period!

Hi Paul.
Despite the cloudy weather you managed to create a so colorful impressive landscape picture. I like very nice low POV and framing with a lot of FG. Great reflection of water movement by long exposure tine. The small aperture value has given great DOF and excellent sharpness of the image. Bravo and best wishes. Excellent job.
