Superb capture of the singing Robin, very nicely composed and I do like the frontal pose with the bird in full song, very good feather detail especially the ruffled feathers on its lower breast, lovely lighting and excellent colours.

This is just superb....You and I both love Robins and I have never seen such a shot with the beak open from a front view...The light was obviously difficult with the right hand side of Rob in Shadow..But that by no means detracts from the picture.
It is in all reality a stunning shot and highlights your skills with what was a very difficult picture to capture.

Hi Nick,

The only thing better than a picture of a robin is one of a robin in the midst of a song. This is great! Not only is it a wonderful pose the colors are magnificent. Superb details of the face and plummage. This is special!

What a great catch!!! The pose and expression of the robin is just fantastic!
I really like the light on him, too - coming from the side, creating these nice shadows and also giving you that lovely catchlight.
Superb colors (both in the robin and the BG) as well as details.

Hello Nicholas -

This is a very nice image. The detail on the bird and the surround branches is superb. The exposure is spot on and you have a nice catch light in the eyes. Part of me thinks that a shallower DOF would have softened the branches in the BG as they appear to be slightly distracting. The other part of me, says this image is spot and leave everything a lone. So, where do I go now? I think it is OK regardless! Well done and presented.

A very fine rendering of this singing robin Nicholas, the low POV demonstrates the bird's characteristics perfectly against the bluish BG. TFS indeed!

Hi Nick,

I managed to get a very similar shot a couple of days ago, but there were more branches around making the shot a little busy. Yours is also sharper, but perhaps I'll post mine next week anyway - if nothing else to show just how good you are at this kind of thing.

I love that kind of picture of birds, with the blue, the branches, and most of all, the beautiful light that you used so well. The colour saturation is beautiful, the details show the plumage and all the lichens on the branches. What an abandoned singing robin, see the buds rise as the bird sings. Does she extol spring? Or is she just happy? The picture for sure is joyful and the colors are superb! I'm impressed by the richness of details and the contrast is perfect.

What a great capture!
This robin could be auditioning for a choir! He is putting lots of energy into the activity! A bird doctor would be able to see his tonsils! (If birds have such things!)
