[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Lingga is a female orang-utan (Pongo pygmaeus) who was born on 29/08/05. She was born at the Menagerie
du Jardin des Plantes in Paris, but her mother rejected her and she was cared for by the keepers in Paris for the first two years of her life. Lingga was sent to Monkey World in Dorset so that she could grow up with others of her own kind.

Orangutans

+ Orangutans come from Borneo and Sumatra.

+ Orangutans from Borneo and Sumatra are different sub-species.

+ They live in primary rain forest from lowland swamp to upland forest habitats.

+ Orangutans are generally solitary animals but they do have loose associations around abundant food sources.

+ Females generally give birth to a single infant which gestates in approximately 8 1/2 - 9 months.

+ The baby is weaned at approximately 4-5 years.

+ Generally the males are twice the weight of the females, with males weighing 77kg and females 37kg.

+ Orangutans are critically endangered and it is estimated that there are only 20,000 left in the wild.

+ Wild orangutans are threatened by de-forestation, agriculture and poaching.

Hi Dean
This is very nice image
very good sharp and detail
well done.

Excellent capture of this cute Orang-utan, Dean. I love to watch these animals on Animal Planet channel.
The expression in the well captured eyes of this little lady conveys the feeling that she is quite comfortable and secure in her new home.
Also thanks for your kind critique on my desert picture. I have posted the original version of it in Workshop, entirely for your viewing.
TFS and regards,
Ram

Well, you have a great pose, great subject and finally an excellent cpature as a result of the earlier two components.Superb in clarity and sharpness, he seems to be in a bit of pensive mood..the colours are brief but enriching. This is an excellent shot deserving a good praise.Very well done.
