This one sticks out from the background well..and it truly looks the natural colour. This is a problem I have with imaging the blackbird...I cannot seem to grasp the slight differences and i end up with more of a duotone than a greyscale so to speak..Nicely captured.

This is a fine picture of the male blackbird..all is brilliant as ever photgraphically...Its interesting you say that you dont see many blackbirds whereas you used to..I didnt used to see many in my area but they are everywhere now.

Fantastic details all over of this black bird. A great accomplishment, with perfect focus, sharpness and point of view. The black feathers show up so well in the light. I just love the yellow circle around the eye, the pose and of course the open beak rounds this image of perfectly. A great shot on all counts. Thanks for sharing.

Hello Nick,

Last week you were telling me how difficult you found it to capture blackbirds, I'm so pleased that that was in the past! This is a fine example! The ruffling of his feathers gives him 'life'! You have shown good details of his feathers!
I do like the speckled b/g which makes a very lovely b/g for him.

Your aviary gallery is getting big and beautiful Nicholas! Second black bird that I see today, the other is Ivan's. Is this a Thrush too, I think so, it's the same latin name. We don't have them here but they seem to be of the same family of robins... but I really don't know. Great picture once again, Nicholas, I like the light you get on your pictures, it's always golden and bright, almost warm. Here we see the wind in the feathers, I really like it. Thank you!

Immense detail in the feathers and great sharpness.
Superb DOF that blurs the BG nicely.
Excellent lighting and colours.
I think there's a bit too much space above the bird but otherwise the composition is great!

Glen, I have not seen this bird at all. It first appeared to be a Raven till I saw the color of the beaks and the eye ring. Very well taken.

I love watching blackbirds. They remind me of mini-puffins when they have a beak stuffed full of worms. I have a female blackbird who eats the leftover hedgehog food.

Great POV and wonderful details. I love the ruffled feathers. Perfect DOF as ever
