Hi Nick

Superb shot of the colourful Redpoll, nice simple composition with a great POV and a lovely pose, well saturated colours, I like the way the red is almost like a blush, nice sharp detail to.

How lucky you are to not only spot new birds but also get such great shots of them, I think I should post my barely recognisable Goldfinch shot to give you all a laugh.

Hi Nicholas,
Thank you for this cute little flame of a bird my friend, you've chosen a nice low POV for this tele-close up and the DOF zone encompassed the whole bird in sharp focus, providing us with excellent plumage and coloration details against a fine and contrasty BG. The perching branch nicely frames the bird and completes this pleasant composition. TFS indeed!

I think perhaps, and mostly to Mario but others as well, the Redpoll is now the most firmly planted bird in my mind of late...it is almost replacing my dear old fathers (rest his soul) Chickadee....I cannot tell you how much I get inspiration from folks like you. There wasn't a hint of anything but photojournalism in me when I came to TN. Here I have learned from you, who call yourself amateurs....yet that word is without definition in my mind...nor for me....you are my teachers...and for this image and for that concept..I thank you much!
