Green Alkanet....Pentaglottis Sempervirens a perennial flower, roughly hairy and tufted. The flowers are bright blue and possess white honey guides. Flowers March to July.

The leaves are oval and pointed and contract at the base. The lower leaves being stalked. The flowers change from purplish to bright blue upon full exposure. The "seeds" are actually nut-lets and are ridged. Found in hedges, wood borders, waysides and also a garden escapee. This plant is also similar to Anchusa officianalis, where the flowers are more purplish and carry narrower leaves.

This one imaged this evening, (on a bit of waste ground near a roadside)Overcast but breaking clouds, windy.

I have been given excellent and really useful advice from a number of people, notably "Alex99", "Necipp", "marhowie" and "ellis49"..if I have omitted anybody else, please accept my apologies!!!

After the previous upload, I followed advice and cut the f-stop down a bit and used mirror lock with remote shutter release.

ISO 200
Shutter 1/320
f/16

Shot in RAW, fill flash used and natural light. Imaged had slight contrast added before cropping/sizing and sharpening.

Any advice/critiques gratefully received. All good bits go in my "log book" for reference. Again, thank all of you who have helped me with my imaging, it is a pleasure being here!!!

Hello Howard,
The shinyness of the flowers of this Green Alkanet gives the impression that they are made of fine porcelain. The sharpness, POV, composition and BG contribute to making this an excellent image and I like the contrast between the blue of the mature flower against the red fresher flowers.
Thanks for sharing this beauty,
Ivan
