I waited about 1 hour for this Grebe to come close enough for a frame-filling shot but finally he popped up really close and I captured this as he swam as fast as he could away from me :-)
This is one devoted father too! I saw him swimming and diving all day, catching little fish which he intimately gave to his wife who was sitting on a nest :-)

I used a monopod for stabilility.

I hope you like this one!

Hi Owlman! Good morning Joe:)
A lovely and splendid shot of this dribbling grebe my friend. All are perfect! I liked especially drops from the tip of beak:) lovely.
TFS.
Cheers,

Bayram, Geckoman

Hi Joe,
This is fantastic. Great result for 1 hour waiting. Crystal clear image and the dribbling is just perfect. Very well done and tfs.
JC

What a fine head this Grebe has, Joe!
Using monopod or tripod always makes a lot of difference in terms of sharp focus and it shows here in your portrait of the bird.
At SS 640, you have captured the "dribbling" very well.
The angle of light is so ideal it has made the dribbling droplets look like pearls.
Well done and cheers.
Ram

Wonderful Crested Grebe image Joe.
Excellent square format composition.
Just love the pose of the Grebe looking backwards.
Most wonderful colors, drop of water hanging on the bill and details in the feathers.
Sharpnes and exposure are perfect.
Excellent work. TFS!!!

Cheers, Harry

Hello Joe,
great timing, just after the grebe lifted the beak out of the water as you captured those wonderful water droplets.
Great close up, very sharp and a lot of grreat detail.
TFS..Sky

Hi Joe
Very nice dynamic shot. Great eye contact, good composition with bird on the left. Sharpness is also good.
I like it very much
Best wishes
Krzysztof

A fine portrait in profile indeed Joe, catching those droplets almost in mid-air takes a certain expertise with a camera my friend.
Cheers,
Mehmet

wow is that a good lens Joey! I have little luck with monopods. They still need good calm hands...which you obviously have. Very crisp and super pin so which gives the water droplets a nice dynamic to the image...Colours are natural...all looks fine in the world of Joey!
Bob

What a nice scene you describe and how nice this beautiful Grebe is. You captured it in this "decisive moment" that photographers crave for. I love the tiny drops at the tip of its beak, the beauty of the light on his feathers... and the water running around him. Lovely shot of this bird, the head is beautiful with colours and almost a smile. Thank you Joey,

Francine

Another great shot of the Crested Grebe, very nicely composed with a superb POV, I love the pose with the head in profile and the body so far under the water, very nice details especially the water droplets dropping from the beak and rolling down the neck, excllent light and colours too, well worth the wait.

Bonsoir Joe,

Superbe gros plan sur ce canard. Bravo pour les détails.
Merci.

Hello Joe,
I am pleasure to see your photographs always, so I added you to my favorite for visiting them easily. This is also great capture. I see this species, Podiceps cristatus often. they started courtship nowadays. But I could not get closer as much as yours. Excellent timing to capture such a great portraite with great sharp details, POV and composition. Splendid coloration. TFS, best wishes
