This was taken down at my local lake where the newt was hidden in a log, I realise ID might be hard without a full body shot and so I will try and post one as a workshop.
Thanks,
Nick :-) |

Hi Nick,
A nice capture of this newt. Good frontal POV. Good details. Sorry I can't help you with the ID. Thanks a lot for sharing.

Hi Nick,
i know nothing of any note about Amphibians or their ID i'm afraid, but i do like this shot! Really nice POV and some very good detail - maybe the DOF is a little shallow, but the overall quality is great - well done, keep it up!

Hi Nick.
Funny and cute crop with so nice beauty. Superb eye-contact and details. I see despite the small aperture details DOF is shallow a bit. I think it would be better to increase the shooting distance and then use a crop. In any case well done and TFS. So interesting work.
Alexei.
Nick, this is a rather daring close-up shot of a Newt.
There is an amazing uneveness of focus on the face but it creates a fantastic effect.
Well done and TFS.
