[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Dent de Lion - Dandelion (Taraxcum officinale) Dent de Lion or Lions teeth is the French name for this perennial that was corrupted into the English Dandelion. Well known as a tiresome lawn weed but given a golden blaze in meadows in the months of April/May.

All have milky juice and basal rosettes of leaves, sometimes downy, occasionally purple spotted, deeply lobed or toothed (Dent de Lion) these teeth usually pointed backwards. The fine large flowers are composed of numerous bright yellow ray florets. Always solitary on fleshy rubbery leafless stalks that narrow at top. The fruits have a beak surmounted by a none feathery pappus which makes the well known "Dandelion clocks".

The Dandelion's comprise 240-250 species.

This image is entirely as is, no PP work, I have not checked the meta data for the exact settings but I think these were approximate - ISO 200, f/9, shutter speed 1/250.

Shot in RAW, manual focus, no flash.

Hello Howard
I have to say that this your best Macro by far..Lovely sharp details and natural light..I think it benefits from you not using flash..Perhaps theres a little to much space to the right hand side that would be better on the left hand side drawing the eye more to the subject more..Thats just my opinion though..Super work.

Hi Howard,

Excellent macro! The too tight cropping in the lower side spoils it a bit for me (I have a tendency to that in the field...).

Cheers!

Ishi

Hello Howard,
These are beginning to crop up in the lawn here now, they're a nuisance but even so very beautiful when you have a close look at them. This is a very fine macro in beautiful light showing intricate details and fine colours.
Well done!
Many thanks, Ulla
