Hello,

This is the view looking north from around 3/4 of the way down the south side of St Aldhems Head, a 352ft high system of Limestone rock faces that sticks out into the sea off of the Dorset Coast.
Getting down here is no easy feat, and involves clambering down the crags up top and then lowering yourself down that steep scree slope on an old steel wire left by quarry men many years ago.
It's worth the effort though, as hardly anyone ever comes down here and it feels very untouched. We saw a herd of Roe Deer here too, the first time i have seen any Deer right down on the coast which was a pleasant suprise. Getting back up however is quite an interesting challenge!

There's s small finger of rock sticking up from the top of the cliffs, just left of centre of the frame. I've included a workshop that shows the view west from there, which was taken on a different day some time ago.

PP: shot RAW, curves and some reduction of highlights (it was very bright sun), converted to JPEG, resized and sharpened.

Thanks for looking..

Hi Paul

A great composition from an unusual POV with good colour and superb detail. It looks more like the Yorkshire Dales than Dorset! Well observed and captured.

Now this is super geology Paul...I mean..it looks like one of a variety of places I have seen but to be there and see in context is very good...It adds one more thing for me to search for on the net..You shall soon come up to James on this geology "stuff". My wife is the "know it all", and she comes in sometimes to let me know what I am seeing...She likes this shot as well..

Hi Paul,

Interresting place, beutiful colors and pov.
Much details in this picture from the rocks.
The cliffs are very high in England.

Hello Paul,
a technically perfect shot!
The diagonal edge of the cliff and rough triangle of blue sky are excellent!
Fabulous saturated colours and great contrast.
Very sharp and crisp.
I like the WS photo too.
Well done mate!

Hi Paul!

This could almost be a picture of my homeland... the perspective of the wide angle lens gives the impression of a mountain landscape. The eye is conducted to the pass, following this perspective and its lines. I also like the wild aspect of that place and the fresh colours.

Kind regards

Markus

Hello paul, WOW what a nice landscape scene here.Excellent sharp focus and great lighting. Ganesh

A fine wide angle shot of beautiful limestone formations with some contrasting greenery Paul, the contrast provided by the dark blue sky is achieved with some help from the polariser, no doubt. Altogether a beautiful composition, also that of the WS, my friend.
Cheers,
Mehmet

Hello Paul
Its nice not to see you about to tumble off a cliff or get consumed by a rogue wave!!
Maybe a rockfall on this one!!
Joking to one side this is a fantastic scene and one not open to many eyes as you say so its a treat for us for you to post it..Photographically perfect..nowt to say on that!!
and fantastic that you saw a herd of roe deer there.
All the best Fella
Paul

Hi Paul, great perspective, literally a different view on things. technically spot on, the diagonal strike of rock is really excellent and the fine details on the foreground just make this a perfect shot. really good work. tfs and regards h

Hello Paul,
You had shown us how majestic is the height of the Head!
the angle of the sun makes this place so beautiful
very good colour contrast between the blue sky and the rocks here
well done
many thanks for the sharing
Tony

Da impresión de dinamismo Paul y quizá también algo de vértigo. Esas lentes gran-angulares y también el ángulo de disparo elegido crean esas sensaciones. Realismo en los colores y en la luz.
Bonito trabajo.

Hi Paul:

This is a wonderful overview of this very rocky mountain, as well desperendimientos said to be very common and dangerous. Better watch from afar or with this picture so well documented with the explanation that makes us.

A good job friend.

Greetings

Josep

Hello Paul,
This view leads us to imagine the hazardous trip down in order to take this shot. It must have been worthwhile, both for this shot and the experience.
Great POV, perspective and composition with the diagonal limestone crags.
Thanks for sharing this fine image and the WS + note.

Hi Paul!

The whole scene makes me feel dizzy because of the pov! You caught it very well. The shape of the sky is very unique. It's wonderful how rocks go from small to large.

Sorry for being so short, for a few weeks it will remain because of work. TFS!

Best regards,

Hello Paul,
Very beautiful view of these limestone rocks from a fine low POV. It almost looks as if you've tilted the image for effect but I'm sure you haven't! Excellent DOF and beautiful colours in this excellent composition.

Hi Paul,
I haven´t been in TN for a while... now i´m back.
I like this post, has a very original POV. Of course, colours and details are great. And the DOF is nice too. Seems a nice place for hiking!
The place remembers me a place close to my home in patagonia called "Valle encantado", with similar rocks formations, volcanic ones. Are this volcanic too?
TFS this great place.
have a nice day!
Brenda

Hello Paul,
Going out was really going in apparently.
Beautiful! Do like the compo and colours. The polarizer and the grad were very effective tools here.
Excellent depth and depth of field as well. For example I like the sharp foreground rock to the left.
Well done
