Hello Everyone,

I hope your weather has been as warm and sunny as it has been in N.W. England for the last few days! Spring has come with a vengeance and the temperatures have been around 20 degrees C.

Today, I am posting a shot of some honesty flowers. These grow wild in the hedgerows and make a very colourful splash in the previously dull places. This one was growing vigorously against a dry stone wall and had no competition.

Here is further information about honesty:
The plant called Honesty has the Latin name Lunaria. The name is derived from moon this is because the seedpod is round and silvery looking like a moon. A common name is money plant, I guess because again the seedpods look like a coin. Honesty is a member of the cabbage family. This is a very easy plant to grow. If you wish to grow some now may/June is a good time to sow its seeds.
If you have honesty in your garden, there should be no need to buy new seeds of it. The seeds are easy to collect and sow where you want new plants to grow. The honesty flower will self-set if you leave the seed cases on the plant. They will fall off and grow where they fall. Honesty is a biennial so seeds you will sow now will flower next year. ...

Many thanks for stopping by.
I hope you found it enjoyable.
Please feel free to offer feedback on any aspect of the photograph. :-)

Hello Beverley,
We have the same wonderful summer weather here, although now after two weeks of sunshine it's getting very dry! This is a lovely capture of the Honesty flowers that reminds me that I saw some recently in a much darker pink/wine colour - weird! You've caught these in beautiful light that shows up the colours and details very well against the stones in the background. Very beautiful and well done!
Many thanks, Ulla

Hi Bev,
yep it's been just as warm down here, if not warmer! Set to be a good weekend too.
Really like the overall presentation here withe frame and it's matching trim, as well as the shot of the Lunaria. Very good colours and excellent exposure with sharp focus, well done!
Paul

nice pic, interesting frame, TFS Ori

Yep, Bev, good bit of honesty does no one harm!! The colours are quite vivid and striking. I uploaded a macro of said flower, but it is good to see the complete plant. I may do some "full" plants as well. excellent composition, the light is excellent.

Hello Bev
Spring/Summer is indeed upon us finally with all the sights and sounds we miss through the dull winter.
This is a cracking capture..The focus and dof is spot on showing all the beauty of this Honesty plant..The background is just right showing light detail of a neutral colour which honestly makes honesty leap out of the frame!
Perfect work Bev
A good Weekend to you and yours
Paul

Hello Beverly,
A superb capture of Honesty in flower. The lighting, sharpness and composition are superb and I like the stone wall Bg.
We call them Judas Pennies as they have coin-like silvery seed pods in the autumn.
Thanks for sharing this beauty,
Have a good weekend,
Ivan
