[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This a Zebra Spider with its prey which he just dropped. He was out in the harsh sunlight so I couldn't get a decent shot of him so I carefully moved him and his prey to a table inside (hence the tablecloth they're standing on) to get better shadowless light (even though I used a flash it still helped). The spider then dropped its food but when I put him and the fly back outside I left him for a bit and he picked the fly up again :-)

This one is for Dietrich (Meyerd) for all his outstanding macros and especially the ant and weevil shot he posted yesterday :-)

I hope you like this!

There is a Large Post if you want to see closer in! :-)

Hi Joe,

Great capture of violent wildlife action. The prey seems to be about the same size as the spider. Good composition, DOF and sharpness of details.

TFS

Best wishes

Pekka

Hi Joe, this is one I've never seen before, not sure if I'd want to close up. The detail you have in this shot, especially in the large post is pretty incredible. Most of your focus is on the front of the spider and the fly, but the detail on that head is awesome.

Thanks, John

Hi Joe, my dear friend, Superb action shot with wonderful details. And also nice dedication to our experienced friend Dietrich. TFS my friend Owlman:-)
Cheers,

hello Joey,
Interesting shot and great large version. I like a lot. Kind dedication also to our friend Dietrich.
Best regards
Anne

Hi Joe,
a fine and well detailed macro-shot, I know how small the zebra
spider is. The LP-version s great, a lo of details are well seen. The DOF is also very good for a 180 macro with a converter.
But the spider and the dead fly looks a bit arranged.
Well done, young friend.

As I would imagine...here in the US, if a table clothe is even used any longer, it is some junk made in a country that shall be unnamed and worthless plastic. My family heritage goes back to much more complexities even in the dinner cloth which was a pretty fancy laced piece which worth cold only be determined in whose family it belonged.
A fie image and story Joe. You have successfully manipulated nature:-) Well seen! Nice shirt:-)Yes I had seen it before. Just had to throw that in Ha!

Hi Joe,

You worked hard for this shot - I'm certain I wouldn't have done what you did. You got a great shot of the spider and his prey with very good details. The eyes on the spider are amazing - they seem to be saying, "Joe, you are next."

Jane

Hello Joey,

What a big eyes. A great macro capture. I´m agree what PVS said that you are not be able to shoot theme in the place where the action was. But anyway a great shot of this little spider. Nice colors. Thanks for sharing and regards BOB

Hi Joe,
this is a big, BIG surprise, your great action picture with the wide-eyed jumping spider and its prey bigger than itself! You do quite incredible macros, Joe, but this one is on top of the list. And here you let us even enlarge the picture! You got all the things in line, the light, the focus, the pose (I know these spiders don't like to stand still). And then you dedicate it to a TN friend, me, I'm honoured and thankful. You did it because of a shot for which I owe Anne (anel) a lot: she had invited me to Valais and to her secret places for macro photography !

The only Be minor: I'm not able like you to come up with slhots that top yours in alternation to keep the fun a while longer. But fun it will be anyway, to watch what you are brewing! Thanks for all.
Be good, Dietrich

Hello Joe,
Just perfect that all I can describe this image!
very fine closeness on both the Spider and the prey in total sharpness, natural colour and details
always well done
cheers
Tony
