Interesting light Adrian, and this is an excellent POV/comp.
Very good detail, color, and surprising DOF at F/4...
Man I would love to have just one shot like this of a raptor inflight.
Have a Great Weekend,
Howard
FYI - "Raptor" comes from the latin root that means "to seize and carry away".

Hallo Adrian
This is really stunning. I dream of the day that I'll also be able to take a photo like this one, up till then I’ll just admire the talented photographers like you to present these kinds of photographs. Very good in flight shot of this Red Kite. What impresses me the most is the clear visibility of the yellow eyes, the beak and those lovely set of paws, which stands out well against the blue sky. This kite surely has an impressive wingspan. Focus, sharpness and framing is done expertly. Thanks for sharing.
Kind regards
Anna
Hi Adrian,
It a pleasure to see a new post form you and what an excellent one! Birds in-flight are very difficult for me to capture and most of all when taken handheld like this one! Details and exposure are perfect in a very well chosen composition. Oh, I see that you are back in your wonderful country, welcome back! This must have been an impressive encounter; this bird is a real beauty! I wish I had such a great shot in my portfolio. I see raptors quite often here but I never succeeded with such a beautiful shot, they always are too fast or too high… Thanks,
Claudine

Hello Adrian,
Excellent photo of this Red Kite in flight. You took this photo with the heavy D300 and 400mm lens handheld. Amazing.
Great sharpness and patterns in the feathers. The details are very good. POV, composition and colours are beautiful.
Regards,
Peter

Hi Adrian.
How well that you are here again with amazing in-flight picture (and I see with new camera at least). Superb in every aspect shot. Pose of the bird and its wingspread as well as the composition of the shot are wonderful. Exposure, sharpness and details are spot on too. However, what are we waiting from you? Only such masterpieces. Bravo and my wishes to stay here with other so attractive works.
Yours Alexei.

I can see why it is called a kite. An in-flight bird high overhead against the sky is always a difficult shot for me, but you have done an exceptional job with the light, focus, details and colors! BRAVO!

A nice piece of art, Adrian. The increadible detail of the feathers on the wings, and the tight composition really brings out the diagonal composition. Just a classic. Period.

Hi Adrian
I'll try to keep it short as per your intro. Nope, I gave it a thought and tried to apply my mind in staccato or brusque bursts, but found it to be impossible (chuckle). Sorry, it just doesn't work for me.
High time we see a posting from you my friend and what a super in-flight shot of this Kite it is. Excellent composition with the bird soaring on the diagonal. Great details, even at f/4, and probably it was due to the fact that the bird must have been perfectly parallel to you so the depth range of the subject was somewhat reduced. Obviously you knew that else you would not have pushed it, but that gave you the added advantage of a pretty snappy shutter speed to freeze the movement and still the camera. It paints a darn pretty picture seeing this raptor etched against the clear blue sky. I have done a quick workshop to address the shadows and I hope you don't mind and that you like the result.
Very well done and TFS.
Regards
Loot
