[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is a close-up of a Banded Demoiselle. Once again this was taken on our TN meeting. There were loads of these flitting around and munching on all the caddis-flies (see Lawbert's last post), occasionally they stopped to rest and then you could get really close like this. The flash is a bit harsh but the wind was blowing so I didn't want to risk a long exposure.

I hope you like it!

Hallo Joe
Time is little, but I cannot pass without leaving my comment and appreciation for this beautiful photograph. This is a real close-up, I mean really close. It looks as if this damelfly flew through the Xmas tree and all the shiny decorations got stuck to its face. The display of metallic colours is great. Kind regards and thanks for sharing.

I'm calculating the focal lenth though I have tried my 180mm f/2.8 nikkor lens with i.4 teleconverter it gives amazing result but your's fantastic.
It makes 180x1.4=252 again from film to digital that makes 252x1.6=403.20..
It has lot to write as you describe..flash is a bit harsh but the wind was blowing so I didn't want to risk a long exposure.
well done.

Sorry for not being able to keep up with your postings, Joe.
With your equipment, you are experimenting daringly and and getting stunning results.
This is the biggest macro of a Damsel's eyes I have ever seen and it is faultless.
To top it all, it has beautiful colours.

Hello Joe,
You've posted several fine shots while we've been away - how does one catch up? :-(
Anyway - this one is a most impressive close-up of a Damselfly showing the marvellous metallic colours and interesting details. Well done!
Many thanks and cheers, Ulla

Hi Joe,
A lovely closeup shot of this beautiful damselfly. Superb details and a lovely composition. Thanks a lot for sharing.

There certainly was a dynamic added to that meeting that comes out in almost a synergistic way...You might have to look it up...but basically it means 1 plus one may equal more than 2:-) Instead of adding a person, you added a multiplier...anyway fine photo and quite surprisingly well done considering you were with a group whom were all taking significant pictures at eh same time...this is one meeting, and I have said it before, the I wish I could have been at!

Hi Joe,

Excellent picture of this Banded Demoiselle. This close-up is directly from Scifi features. Think of something like in size of human. Sharp details, good POV and DOF, nice colours.

Hi Joe

A lovely shot - great pose with very good detail.

This is a powerful portrait indeed Joe, the details of the compound eyes, three ocelli and the iridescent chitin covering the head are perfectly portrayed. Good job indeed!
