[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Tawny Owl Strix aluco taken on a photo day organised by Miles (Captivelight), this is a captive bird. The days are organised by Miles and the good folk at Libertys to take some British birds out into the New Forest where they can be photographed in a natural setting. As well as giving photographers great opportunities to get close to these beautiful birds, they raise funds which help to keep the centre operating. Good to meet both Miles and Joe (Joey) on the day and interesting to see how much photography and wildlife consumes Joe, at times it seemed he was oblivious to anything else around him. Keep up the good work Joe and happy birthday for tomorrow, have a great day.

Some good info about the Tawny Owl at Wikipedia. This particular bird is about 20 years old, however she’s still pretty lively and a pleasure to spend time with.

Wonderful shot of the Tawny Owl Adrian.
Details and colour are superb.
The POV is excellent and I like the head turned side on so that we can see the beak.
It makes a change ... most owl shots have the owl looking directly forward.

Fantastic shot even for a captive bird. It certainly looks like a very natural setting, I love the moss and the owl stands out perfectly on that green background.

Wonderful shot of the Tawny Owl.
nicely composed with a excellent POV and I like the pose with the bird glancing upwards and the moss on the perch adds a nice touch.
Nice sharp details, lovely colours wuth a superb OOF BG.

Lovely shot of the owl Adrian. It's plumage looks so soft - as if I could reach out and touch it. I love the 2 glints in her eye too.
