Hi Beverly,
as a natural subject showing this species is fine and also the notes useful.
I can not say the same as a photograph, you could have incresed little depth (f8 in this case) and your croping is bad, don't do a square, let it be rectangle, right. also avoid the borders, it won't help much. good luck.

I am wondering as if it is the "Bull thistle" or the common....either way you seem to have brought out some beauty in the thing. I grew up with them...as many do...but it wasn't until my kids started eating them that I discovered the medicinal qualities of the buds they called "bubble gum". Super image Bev.

Hi Beverley!

My feedback will be very short and simple: it's a marvellous and so delicate picture, the thistle is well put on stage, underlined by a subtle framing. When I look at this beauty I can't understand that we kill it with some poison...

The question whether it would be better to increase the depth of field is very subjective. From my point of view the blurred parts of the plant add to the value of the picture and highlight the details on the other parts.
