Adonis Blue
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
Male Adonis Blue (Lysandra bellargus). In the UK this species is restricted to southern England. It is found on areas of chalk and limestone where the caterpillars feed on Horseshoe Vetch (Hippocrepis comosa). It is a double brooded species, the first generation is on the wing in May/June, the second July-September.
This shot was taken on the Hampshire/Dorset border on a beautiful August morning in 2007.
Kind Regards
Vinny www.vincentblood.com |

Hello Vinny,
You have made an excellent capture of one of my favourite species of butterfly, the Adonis Blue. The POV and simple composition against the OOF dried grasses is great and the striking turqoise blues are depicted with good sharpness.
TFS this beauty,
Regards, Ivan
Nicely composed picture. I like the back ground which has brought out the colour of butter fly well.
