Good Morning Everyone,

Flowers can be deceptive!
I went for a walk with my husband along the river bank in a nearby village. (It turned out to be one of those days when the weather kept changing from scudding clouds to wet, drizzly soakings!)

In a quite grassy area, we came across this beautiful pink flower. Although still recovering from the early downpour, it looked tall and proud. I thought at first that it was an orchid, though its composition wasn't quite right for that type of flower.

Anyway, on reaching home and identifying the flower, imagine my surprise when I discovered it is a Policeman's Helmet and although incerdibly beautiful, is considered a noxious weed! It is so successful, that it is endangering resident plants and their habitats.

Many thanks for stopping by.
Please feel free to offer feedback on any aspect of the photograph.
Bev :-)

nice close up, the frame is too agressive though, TFS Ori

Hallo Beverley
Somehow I missed out on some of your images lately and that is a pity. Luckily I opened the gallery and saw this beauty. What a lovely flower! and such an interesting name Policeman's Helmet. I cannot believe it is considered to be a weed. Looking at this flower creates a feeling of joy and cheerfulness. I like the semi-opened blossoms in the background and the water droplet at the far end is just magic. Thanks for sharing, it was most enjoyable to look at.
Kind regards
Anna

Beautiful color and light Beverly, looks great/stands out well on this terrific BG. Actually the BG serves to make the image as a whole much more intense IMHO. Very good detail/DOF, POV, & comp also.
Well done & have a nice weekend,
Howard

Hi Beverley. A friend of mine why is a very keen and well known gardener she has been on TV a lot was given some seeds to plant not knowing what the were this was some ten years ago. and it turned out to be this plant. The seeds get spreed over a vast area and the plant grows to about 6 ft tall but has hardly no roots . Now back to the picture. A good close up looing down in to the flower just as the bee would.good detail and colour against the BG. well done TFS.
Nick..
Have a nice weekend.

Hi Bev, elegant composition with splendid flowers, lovely blurry BG and fantastic colors, very well done, have a good week end, ciao Silvio

Your little Policeman's Helmet and my Spanish Bluebells -- both noxious and yet so pretty.
I just love the details in yours -- superb BG too

Hello Bev,
Beautiful capture of the Himalayan Balsam, a flower that we have here too in damp places. It is lovely and I like the way you present it against a dark background showing very sharp details. Beautiful natural colours too. Well done!
Many thanks and cheers, Ulla

Hi Bev,

Before I read your notes I thought it was some type of Orchid. Wish we had weeds that looked like that here. It is really beautiful with exquisite colors and shadings. Excellent details of the entire flower. Stunning against the black background. I guess it's true that "you can't tell a book by its cover."

Hello Bev,
When there is a mass exodus of active TN-ers one tries to look for familiar names and yours cropped up on a critique somewhere, so I chose this excellent image in your gallery of a Himalayan Balsam flower taken with great sharpness against a superb dark neutral BG. Nice POV and composition too.
Thanks for sharing this beauty,
Regards, Ivan

Bonjour Bev,
Très belle macro finement détaillée et superbement colorée.
A bientôt sur TN pour de nouvelles aventures.
