[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is a Four-spotted Chaser, Libellula quadrimaculata form praenubila. Again I used the same technique as described in my last Emperor shot in flight. This specimen has additional dark markings on the wing tips and this is less common than the standard form. I'm glad I got this form in flight as I think the dark spots add something to the picture. I had to do a little more sharpening than usual (USM: 300%, 0.3, 0).

I hope you like this shot.

Hi Paul
I am always impressed by the facility with which you photographs of the insects in flight.
Excellent shot
in a friendly way Christophe

Hi Paul,
In the gallery, the vignette of your photograph appeared so dark that one could believe in an error of post! But with the opening, which surprise to find a so good shot. Yes, it is really a beautiful composition. The dark background brings a completely interesting mystery to him. Beautiful work.
TFS, cordially,
Jean-Patrick

Ya-mon, Paul.!!!!!
Excellent shot and real beauty at that. Excellent composition.
Could you achieve the same at ISO 400 without flash? I don't know what kind of lighting you had, so, I'm going at it blind. Just wondering. :) :)
Hey, is it over the water? Nice background.

Mike

Inspiring! A tremendous shot, I can't even get these guy's when they're on the floor!!
Exceptional detail, composition, sharpness (don't think it's too much).
Well done!
(I'm not nit picking, honest, but you have two perfect circles to the left and right of the image about a quarter of a way up the screen, could be dust on your sensor).

Amazing shot of this plane :-)))
Perfect shot!

Hi Paul,
You seem now to shoot in flight insects as simply as you drive a car :-). It's again perfect, and here, the flash allows to show a darker BG while keeping contrast and sharpness on the subject. So, with the well visible four spots, you broaden also your incredible in-flight gallery with another first class species. Very good indeed. Can't wait longer now to get my first one as good as this one!

Great fligt-in, Paul.
You have learned the technique very well.
Excellent details, well composed amd good exposure.
Excellent work.

I haven't even seen one of these yet, and here you go shooting one on the wing.. ;-))
Great capture with very good sharpness, details and light from the very best angle.
Not much else to say, really ;-)

very nice one Paul,
again one in flight, very good capture, good in pov and a fantastic dof, great job,
gr. Jaap

Another great inflight picture Paul. Quality are very good, dark BG looks perfect. I like blurred wings effects.

What a good shot Paul. I have the same kit so I can understand how good that shot is with the Sigma having a tendancy to hunt on small flying creatures. Zakiwi

Great action shot. The movement of the wings is "frozen" enough to show how they slap. Regards, Huub

Hi Paul

Another impressive shot from you. This guy looks like he is hell bent on getting to where he is going. Exvcellent light especially on the body. Great POV and OOF BG. Nice work. Thanks.

Hi Paul, another great dragonfly in flight shot from you here. I like the spots on the wings too, I agree with you they add to the form and therefore the composition. It is very sharp and detailed and very well lit. Lovely capture :)
