Hi Paul,
A fine specimen indeed, I wonder if it's close to the unnamed one I have, sure look similar.
Anyway, this is a very good close up of the Skimmer. I like the DOF setting approach you took, I would have gone more but that's a preference, the colors are great and the details are well seen. Your lighting just squeeked in, well done. The composition is just abit tight but well done.
Excellent work.
With the 50mm and 2x, you must of have been centimeters from it, cool.

Excellent shot, Paul. I like how you have framed it with the wing stretching from corner to corner. Incredible detail - with even the hairs on his back so clear. Perfect DOF - making a beautiful, blurry background. Well captured.

Hi Paul
Here we have another excellent capture with the focus on the details in the body/head. The details are very clear down to the tiniest hair. The colours are very natural and I love these blurred backgrounds setting off the main subject so nice. Looking at the sunburned twig with all that light I am very surprised that you managed not to burn anything in the light blue body but of course you are a skilled photographer so why wonder;-). The composition is perfect with the wings stretched forward against the other side of the frame really add something alive to the picture. - All over a very interesting and pleasant picture to look at.

Hi Paul,
It's a very amazing and amusing shot! This dragonfly makes me think of that, out of breath, of the cartoon of Walt Disney, "Bernard and Bianca" ;-)
Composition, DOF, contrast and colours are perfect. Very well done!
TFS, cordially,
Jean-Patrick

Yes Paul, very good title. It looks very dynamic and ready to fast start. It remainds me also modern air fighters or maybe light spaceships from Star Wars ;-) Composition is good, same as DOF and sharpness. Eyes and body are in focus so this is ok.

seems to be a dragonfly season on TN! intresting pose of this one! great details and focus.
Hi Paul,
The pose of this Skimmer is indeed fascinating and it does look like a runner, preparing to set an Olympic record. The blurred BG is great and because it's peaceful for the eyes it suits the subject well and makes it stand out. Maybe it's just me but I would have liked to see the wings fully in focus aswell. But I guess it was impossible to create a wider DOF, shooting handheld, right? Perhaps it was even your intention to het the wings slightly oof to draw more attention to the body and head. Did you really shoot handheld at 1/80? You must have a steady hand then! Well done & TFS!
Regards,
Pieter
