[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This was taken one Christmas whilst camping at Brother's Water in the Lake District. We had set out on Christmas Eve in a bizzard with the view of walking to the bottom of the climb before deciding whether or not to continue. It was one of those days when the weather was so bad that I decided to leave my SLR behind (to protect it!) and simply took a point and shoot. (I've never repeated that mistake despite the weather!) Around 2pm the weather cleared and we got this and boy was I cursing that I had left my SLR behind. Being a cheap (£50) point and shoot (my very 1st camera), there was absolutley nothing that could be done, no filters, no wide angle, no zoom, nothing.
Late that night the temperature dropped below -18C and everything froze (except us) and even keeping the film warm enough to be able to get pictures was a challenge when out on the tops.

This was a 35mm film scanned in. No editting has occured at all.

Emma, This is why I live in Florida where it is warm. Good capture here and it looks very very cold.

Hi Emma
I realize you did not have the control that you would have had with your SLR, but this is a very nice shot. Crisp, saturated, modeled shadows and a nice gradient in the sky. Perhaps a little less foreground and a little more sky, but maybe not.

To my opinion you produced a very nice and warm picture here. Warm because the absolute right colorsetting of the frozen area. By looking to this scenery you want to go out and walk through.
