Bengal Eagle Owl-Bubo bengelensis

Bengal Eagle Owls are also know as Rock Eagle Owls or Indian Eagle Owls. They were once considered a subspecies of the Eurasian Eagle Owl. They fly with slow, deliberate wingbeats, with long bouts of gliding.

Bengal Eagle Owls usually hunt from a perch, but will also make low foraging flights to dive on prey. They primarily hunt rats and mice, but will also take birds up to the size of peafowl. They will also eat reptiles, frogs, crabs and large insects.

Un buen primer plano :D. La luz algo durilla, pero un gran trabajo

Excellent portrait Stephen!

Exposure and focus are excellent. And I like when the BG is not completely black, here we can traces of details behind. A very small burst of flash would have put a glint of light in its eyes. Would have this been better? I'm not sure. I tried a WS on it.
Great portrait and TFS

Hi Stephen, nicely composed with good detail and Dof, a shame that the area around the eyes is a little dark, which I feel leaves this shot a little lifeless, as Alain says a little touch of fill flash or maybe a little work with curves in PS would improve it.

Regards
Terry.

Hi Stephen,

I like the expression of owls in general. They always have a severe look meanwhile they look almost tired...

I like the effect of the shadows on this picture.
Very nice portrait !!!

Hi Stephen!

Slightly bored or maybe proud Owl, I think ;-) Face, pose, eyes in shadows - I like it all!

Great portrait shot Stephen, great sharpness and DOF, well captured too. Thanks for sharing.

Great detail on the owl, I love the late afternoon lighting. I wish the background were lighter as the tufts over his ears blend it, but you could hardly ask him to move, LOL!

TFS,
Alli

Hi Stephen,
This is a very nice portrait of this owl.
The details in the wings are beautiful.
It is a pity that the strong shadows over the eyes are hiding its eyes.
Amicalement,
MichaŽl

Hi Stephan,
Excellent portrait on this owl. The colors and detail look very good. The dark OOF backround sets him off very well. Nice shot!

Very nice shot of this owl with an excellent composition & exposure. Paul :)

Hi Stephen

Grand looking Owl. Has the usual 'looking down his nose' attitude. Love the eye colour. Nice lighting too. Great shot. Thanks.
