[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is a fairly tame fox that visited a friends back garden.

We threw out some food onto the lawn and the fox came and took it. I had my 70-300mm IS on manual focus, and on manual settings - F5.0 and 1/125 shutter speed - as it was dark and therefore autofocussing was pointless. I focussed onto the area we had put the food on. I had the camera on auto-flash, and when the fox turned up took as many photos as possible.

Focussing proved even harder than I expected as the fox never stayed still but kept running back and forward onto the lawn. I took over 30 shots of which only about 5 were in focus and of those only two were any good.

Finally I put ths image onto Paint Shop where I cropped the edges and removed the red-eye on the pupils. The irises are however exactly as taken.

Hi Ed,
Beautiful detail in this, a great shot of a wild animal. A very healthy looking Vixen as well. How did you get so close?
Regards,
Adrian

Hi Ed,
No doubt this is good photograph. Congratulations Loot.
Very nice capture. Colors, POV, DOF, sharpness, expression on face and composition are wonderful.
Thanks for sharing.
DEVENDRA!!

Oh Boy! That's quite a shot. You captured more than just the outer appearance of this fox. It's a beautiful image in every way.

I am impressed with the 70-300 IS lens. I have just about decided on the 100-400 IS but this photo is so lovely. Do you have any opinion on these two lenses?
