Early Purple Orchid (3) & Sunlight
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
Today I thought I would show the effects of sunlight on the Early Purple Orchid. I don't know if I actually prefer this picture to yesterdays post, but the light is so totally different. I think yesterday's has more subtle colours, but today's probably shows their splendor more.
This is backlight, it is exactly the same orchid flower as yesterdays' just from a different angle.
Yesterday's was probably the easier photo to pull off, becuase this was is techincally more difficult. I had to be very careful with the exposure, the light on the petals tended to OE, so I had to stop this down by -2/3EV to try to prevent this.
Info on an Early Purple Orchid (Orchis mascula).
The picture was taken in RAW (using a tripod, mirror lockup and timer release) on my longer lens (to create the OOF BG), converted to jpeg and has just been cropped, resized and sharpened.
Please enjoy and feel free to comment. |

Hi Emma,
A nice flower, excellent colours and DOF is perfect, everything in focus and background perfectly defocused. Nice framing too, great work.
Regards,
Adrian
Superb shot Emma. The sharpness and depth are excellent, and the colours and lighting just right.

Very good flower shot Emma, the background gives it a boost and the contrasting colors are a feast to the eyes. Great work ! Thanks.

Hello Emma!
Beautifull flower. I like composition with backlight and dark BG. Looks like you've got very nice orchids in England :-)
