[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is Whilian Beck, (Beck is from an old Norse word for small stream)as it flows off Scarfell Pike (an other word more than likely originating in old norse meaning peaked top of a hill).All these old Norse names are not surprising as they were here in Northern Britain for a long time.
Wilian Beck flows off the pike and down over a series of falls and though deepish narrow gorges before entering the river Esk and and heading down to the estuary and Sand dunes Ravenglass on the coast, which is wherethe 1st image here was posted from.
This fall is just above Eskdale Mill in the Very small village of Boot which dates back to the 16th centry (1572) and is still working though more in a tourist sort of way no volume production of flour.

The place has strong family conections as my father spent a lot of happy times here as a child and his and my mothers ashes are together further up stream so we vist from time to time and there are many beautiful hidden quiet places even in this now tourist area.
The day was extremly over cast to the point where it was like late evening even though it was only 11.00am, so I had to use a tripod (A rare thing for me) and its feet are actually in the water on a submerged rock.The lighting was metered and set off the bright area of water, then the focus was taken of the front rock. I then set the self timer(10sec) before pushing the button so the camera had time to settle before the exposure began.

Lovely picture Robert, it is a beautiful part of the world. The exposure is excellent and the and the note is too!

Great photo of this beautiful stream.
I've always wanted to have something like this somewhere near my house unfortunately I live in very flat lowland and near my house are only small lakes and very lazy river ( and there are any rocks of course). Sometimes I feel that I should live in a mountains or, at least, in uplands.
I really like your photo.

Nicely done, the water looks really smooth, and the sharpness and details on the rest is very good.

Nice image of the stream. The slow shutter speed certainly adds to the image. I am still having trouble coming to grips with this when using my new camera, but I guess practice is all I need. TFS

I like the darkness of the rocks against the pure whiteness of the water, it gives more impact. Very well seen and done!!
