Fallow deer
Dama dama ssp. dama

So many possible titles for this one, but I settled on Doe Ray Me Far since it seemed the most appropriate.

Doe, because this is a female fallow deer
Ray, for the ray of golden sun ;)
Me, as I am the photographer
Far, the distance from me to the doe ;)

If you don't get the original reference, the solfege of the major scale in music is explained here.

Other potential titles were "golden hind" - ruled out because technically that would apply to a female red deer, the fallow deer female is called a doe.

Another option was "head into the light", since the deer has her head facing into the sun, but I didn't want to imply she died - she was just fine when I last saw her.

In reality the ray of light is actually lens flare caused by shooting very near the late afternoon sun - but I actually preferred this one to the shots without it... YMMV

P.S. In case you're wondering what all the pale dots are around the deer, they're flies - all of the deer were buzzing with them. Curiously, some of another group had starlings perched on their backs to pick off the flies, much in the same way as cattle egrets pick off insects elsewhere...

Curiosísimo contraluz, se nota el aire, los insectos, el polvo... un acierto no forzar un mayor contraste para que se dé este efecto.

Hola Adrian: Una foto muy atractiva sin duda. La perspectiva y los enfoques muy bien seleccionados, la tonalidad dorada lograda es bellísima, es el tipo de fotos que naturalmente me gustarian para una postal, las moscas iluminadas agregan el movimiento y un efecto muy bello para recorrer a la composición. Hi Adrian, lovely image. I really like the flies in there - they add so much life. I'm unsure about the lens flare but I'd have to see both images I guess. Great stuff.

The three most important things needed for a great photograph are quality light, composition, and subject, in that order. The subject is not even that important. Light and comp. can make any object look good.
Here the light is amazing. I love the beautiful warm light shaft. Dramatic back lighting gives the golden halo effect. Excellent composition with some extra space on the right for the deer to move in to. :) Theflies add greatly to the overall shot. SUPERB!
