Hi all, this is another picture from Kimmeridgewhen I visited on the first day of this year. A day that seemed to hold all four seasons. Very soon after this photo was taken the heavens opened and it poured down.

Characterised by its dark – fossil rich – shale beds, Kimmeridge Bay lies between the white chalk cliffs of Tyneham and Lulworth to the west and the pale grey limestones of the Isle of Purbeck to the east.

Kimmeridge boasts some of the most accessible marine wildlife in Dorset - an extended low tide provides extra rockpooling time and the natural stone ledge jutting into the bay make it particularly easy to view the rich lower shore and shallow waters. The marine centre explores the exceptionally rich marine life found on the numerous rocky ledges that run across the bay and also interprets the wider marine environment found within the Purbeck Voluntary Marine Nature Reserve. 'Snorkelling for Softies', Guided rockpool 'rambles' and a live underwater camera are special features at this new centre.

The bay is also a known for traditional water-based activities such as angling and, in warmer weather, paddling and swimming. Divers have known about Kimmeridge for many years and converge on the bay on summer weekends. Launching from Kimmeridge provides access to many excellent dive sites, such as the Underwater Nature Trail. More recently, intrepid windsurfers and surfers have discovered the bay and can often be seen flitting across the bay and leaping over waves.

I hope you like it.

Hi Paul,
This is a wonderful landscape! I like the use of wide angle here. The choice of the aperture and exposure time worked great! Colors and contrast are very nice! Nice POV and DOF, TFS,
Claudine

A lovely moody composition Paul.
I like the way the shape of the clouds on the right is mirrored by the shape of the tidal pools below. Super duper!

What a nice landscape. The warm light gives a pleasant atmosphere. But your big clouds went in France and now it is raining here ;-)
Congratulations Paul and TFS.

Hello Paul,
I'm a little surprised seeing that picture here. I remeber when you took it... it is quite old! :-)
I like the mix of gloomy and sunny things here. The stormy clouds really add a lot to the picture and the golden rocks in FG create a great contrast with them.
Since the time this picture have been taken you've became an expert in landscape photography :-) and I think in comparision this picture isn't maybe equally good as some of your new ones, for example it seems to be not perfectly sharp. But it is a lovely shot with great POV and beautiful light.
I like it ... always have :-)

It's a wonderful light that you captured in this image. It looks pretty sharp to me. I love all the lines and the sweeping clouds. It has great depth.

Thanks for sharing

Evelynn : )

This is a really dynamic shot with so much to look at; the moody sky, the point (what is that?) in the bg, the beautifully textured rocks in the fg, the choppy sea and also the light in the fg. It's a stunning shot, beautifully composed.
I also have to disagree with 'thistle' as I think the image is incredibly sharp, unless her monitor is bettter than mine! *lol*
Well done and thanks for posting.

Beautiful landscape Paul! Great perspective and nice warm colors. Good point of view and composition. TFS!

Very dramatic scenery, Paul.
The combination of the warm glowing sunset light and the somber grouchy stormy sky, not to mention the gray mysterious mood in the water makes for a fantastic composition.

Wonderful scenary!
Splendid shot!

Hi Paul,
What an awsome shot of the beautiful British coast. I saw a program on BBC 2 about this particular coast and I was really amazed by its beuaty. You've captured it superb. Your POV looks like you were hanging on the cliff. The front rock formation leads me straight into the photo toward the lighthouse. The sky is beautiful and gives great mood to the entire photo. Light colors and exposure are spot on.
TFS,
Niek

Hi Paul,
A very dramatic landscape/seascape. Great composition with the use of the rock in the foreground. The light here is what really makes this shot. Detail, DOF, and clarity are excellent. Such a great feeling of depth! VERY NICE!

Hi Paul,
Great landscape.
Adorable place.
Very well done!

Awesome view Paul, and the lighting looks wonderful, so golden. Yes, the clouds do look like they are on the move. It does look quite a cold coast to live on, is it? Well shown, thank you
Janice

Hi Paul, nice shot. I like the cloud formation on this one although I don't feel the composition is as strong as your usual landscapes or the last Kimmeridge post. Don't get me wrong it's a good shot and everything is good technically but I don't think this shot leads you through as well like your others. Just my MHO, I have only just started having a go at landscapes over at TE and never realised the complexity, just thought it was a point and shoot job but I am soon learning it's not so, take care and TFS.
Dean.

Hi Paul,
Your land/seascapes are really quite spectacular
The details are nice, clear and sharp.
Good colours, lighting and exposure. The POV is superb.
Well composed and good notes.
Thanks for posting, have a great week.

Hallo Paul,

I wish I had your eye. A perfect landscape, with a perfect compostion, from the patterns on the rocks to the clouds in the sky. Well done!

Jan-Hendrik

I love this image, Paul. Great contrast between the brown sandstone and the green mossy stuff down below. Then the viewer gets little bonuses like the lighthouse and sky. Magnificent!
Mike
Steve (signal-womb) had already inspired me to buy a 10mm, but you've confirmed my decision. Thanks for the $500 bill. I'll be sure to name Steve and you when the wife sees my credit card bill! ;-)

Crisp shot of this beautiful landscape, the exposure is dead on target as everything appears nicely illuminated with no OE. This is #uckin(remove the right vertical line off the number sign.) hot. :)

breath taking landscape. The composition is outstanding, with that stormy clouds and the strong colors of the cliff.
Very well done.
Thanks for sharing.
My best regards.

Hello Paul
A nice perspective of this beautiful and rugged coastline. The rock formations have some interesting lines and textures. The colours of the rock are a nice contrast to the dramatic colour of the sky.
