Great Wall of Mourne

A similar but different composition of a post I uploaded on TE some time back. This time I went for a sepia tone. The B&W version is in WORKSHOP if you perfer that.

Irelands answer to the Great Wall of China is the Mourne Wall which stretches 22 miles long and was built between 1904 to 1922, linking over 15 peaks and is on average 8 feet high and 3 feet wide. It borders the Belfast Water Commissioners catchment area for the Silent Valley and Ben Crom Dams and is home to a variety of wildlife, flora and fauna.

The Mourne Wall, on the average 2.5 meter high and about one meter thick. Due to the weather conditions and the harsh terrain the Mourne Wall took eighteen years to complete.

This is "Ansel Adams" quality type of work. Very Awesome shot. I totally love the contrast, composition and DOF. Absalutely gorgouse.

Hi Stephen,
Lovely image with strong lead in lines to the main subject. Perfect composition.
Cheers
Paul

Hi Steve,
Love the never ending line of the wall. Your POV creates great depth, with the well focused rocky ground and wall as strong leadin lines. The conversion makes the scenery look kinda alien, if you know what I mean. About the WS, I don't see much difference in treatment.
TFS,
Niek

Pretty amazing, almost a TE picture instead. The geometry is fantastic here. What does it protect again: people, animals or simply a topographical or political boundary?

This scene is perfect for sepia Steve.
The composition is excellent with this rock wall pulling the viewer in. The depth, texture, and tones are fantastic.. Even the sky looks great in sepia, adding to the show :)
Excellent work!

Hi Stephen,

I really like your b/w shots as they work very well. The POV on this one is excellent and the sense of depth is great. This reminds me of Hadrian's Wall. Well done & TFS!

Regards,
Pieter

I like the semi sepia tone. The contrast on the rock wall looks amazing, and I like the dark sky. The depth of field really makes this photo nice to look at because the wall leads us all the way through the photo. Good work.

Hi Stephen,

The choice for a B/W is brilliant. Excellent capture and well done on the composition. Excellent tonal values.

Mike

Wow... an amazing shot of a landscape. I like how you used the bridge to lead my eyes all the way out to the horizon. The use of atmospheric perspective works really well here to indicate the depth and distance of this place! Good choice of sepia coz its tone brings out a certain mood to this entire scene. Fantastic details and sharpness. The lighting was good too i guess? I'm just wondering what's the weather like standing there all by yourself. Feels lonely.

Wonderful line to lead the eye. The texturs of the rock against what looks like bare soil and hill is nice, too. I like the soft undulating lines that follow the countour of the land, too. Looks great in B&W, and I bet very different from the natural green color.
Mike

Hi Stephen,
This is a stunning capture. Great composition with the wall visiible far in the distance, thus leading the viewer through the whole frame. The POV and wide angle really captures the interest of the viewer. Great use of semi sepia, i prefer it over the B&W.

Hi Stephen

This is really a great perspective of what appears to be an endless wall! A replica of the great wall of China maybe ? :))
Excelletn POV and splendid DOF. Lovely details, textures and lighting.
To be perfctly honest, due to the fact i'm partially colors-blind, i realyl don't see the diference between the sepia and the B&W...so i can't say which i like best. What i can tell you is that i like them both a lot :)

Cheers and TFS
