Common Name: Oriental Small Clawed Otter
Scientific Name: Amblonyx cinereus

Otter Facts.
This otter is only about 50cm in length and weighs only 5 kg. They have velvety brown hair that has two layers. The bottom layer is called the ‘under fur’ and is what keeps the otter warm. The top layer is called the ‘guard hair’, which gives the otter it’s
waterproofing. Their fur is all brown apart from a
cream bib underneath their chin. Their feet are webbed until the last joint after which they have
short claws.

Distribution and Habitat.
These otters are found through northern India, Taiwan and down into Indonesia and Java. It is found mostly along coastal rivers and in shallow bays where it hunts for its food.

Diet.
Otters are all carnivores (they eat meat). This Otters diet is made up of crustaceans, molluscs
and small fish, such as catfish.

A very beautiful portrait you managed to capture here from this cute big otter :)
The pose of your subject is great and the POV for this shot is excellent.
Also the sharpness is impecable, the exposure is spot-on and due to that, the colors and tones in your picture are charming and well saturated.

POV and DOF works great, showing us a clean image of the mammal.

Adorable captura Dean con gran armonía de colores entre el animal y su entorno.
Me gusta el punto de vista captado con apropiado DOF aunque el foco parece un poco soft.

Hi Dean

A well captured shot of this cute and nosy guy smelling the air. I’m not sure if it is a zoo or wild specimen, but the natural looking habitat gives the photo a good edge.

A lovely composition with great colours, excellent details, and superb exposure.
