Stag caught in the sun

Realised I did have a photo of this magnificent beast in the sun AND on the horizon.
This was the first time I'd used the D200 and very happy with the results!
I had been trekking around Richmond Park and had decided to call it a day when I suddenly spotted this lonely stag about 50 metres away from me. The sun was in and out constantly so wasn't sure if I'd get the shot I wanted (here is link to other shot in the shade: www.treknature.com/gallery/Europe/United_Kingdom/photo90027.htm)
Positioned myself leaning against a tree and waited. He made his way towards me as I was downwind and he hadn't smelt me, then I think he spotted me and paused right on the horizon looking at me, then he decided I was harmless and trotted off. I got the shot just as the sun fell on him.
The 70-300 VR performed really well and I would have normally needed a tripod for this (300mm) but the VR kept shot sharp.
Learning heaps already, thanks for input guys.

Hello Simon.
What a good shot!
I like it very much. I would like to take the same photo. I pefer this one to the other one. Colors are more warmer and position is perfect.
Félicitations!
