[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is a photograph taken from a hide of a Cock Chaffinch in flight. I used a Canon EOS 10D camera on a Canon 400mm f2.8 IS lens, tripod, remote shutter cord with no filters. Taken at the minimum focussing distance of the lens (approx 6mtrs) at 1/500s @f2.8.
I hope you like it.

Hello Peter,
A first class in-flight capture of a male Chaffinch showing just the right amount of blur on the wings to indicate movement.
TFS,
Regards, Ivan

What an amazing shot. Frozen in midair, with just enough blurring to keep it from being static. TFS

Hello Peter,
Marvellous picture, you can see the movement.
Great job.

Hi Peter
a nice action picture with good compo and POV.
But the colours are washed out and it's too much sharped.
Otherwise it's a nice picture.

I see you used the 400mm f2,8 Canon. What is your opinion about that lens? I think this is your first post captured with that lens here?

What an excellent shot. So sharp and capturing the wings in motion, wonderful. I feel that you could have LESS sharpened the image, as the bird's feathers look like a steel engraving and lack the softness of a bird's feathers.

It is difficult to make a comprimise between sharpness. DOP and POF. Never mind POV, when your are photographing wildlife; Wildlife moves, wildlige is natural, why not allow your photo to show that movement. Your execellent shot here leaves me feeling that there should be more softness, maybe natural blur, more natural.

Anyway a great shot. One that I have never managed to catch.
