This is one of my favourite big birds. The Lappet faced Vulture is Africa's largest Vulture but unfortunately an endangered species due to hunting and poisoning. This is a 'captive' bird at the West Yorkshire Falconry and Conservation Centre and regularly flies free in demonstrations. With a wing span of 9 feet she is like a barn door sailing around.
She is called Vera and has appeared in quite a few TV adverts like Playstation and Lager ads.
Photographed using a Canon EOS D60, ISO 100, with 70-200mm lens at 200mm focal length. 1/125s @ f2.8. Hand held. Dull day. |
