Hi guys,

This is from the sequence I captured of an Egyptian Goose the one posted earlier is here and is my favourite but I thought I'd show a shot with him in a different position.

The shutter should probably have been faster to freeze the movement of the wings and capture the details more because I see this as a little soft but I was limited with light and this was already at ISO 400 and a fairly wide 116mm as it was. I also realise he's dead centre but think it was the only way I could crop this image.

Thanks for looking and any critiques you offer,

Simon

bonjour simon
deja bravo pour ce cliché en vol et de face,et aussi grace a vous je sais maitenant que les deux oiseaux que j'ai vu sur le bord de la riviere de mon village ne sont pas des canards mais des oies.
merci pour ce partage et encore bravo.

Hi Simon,
this is not an easy shot, I know that more than well.
You manage great here with 1/320 sec who is quite long SS for this kind of inflights, the eyes are sharp and the body and wings are in motion blur, very nice.
The colours are also nice, good POV and well exposed.
Well done.

Hi Simon,
Always a pleasure to take a look at your images and to receive your critiques.Despite the difficult conditions (you explained) you have manged to bring off a special image.I think in this case that the centering is not a problem as I feel it has emphasised the subject and all its action.Lovely quality despite the fairly high ISO.Maybe lacking a touch of contrast to deepen the colours. An eye catching image.TFS and have a great weekend!
Regards, David

Awesome selective focus... Great action shot! Congratulations!

A graet action shot. I like the sharp detail of the body and head combined with the blurred wings. Good POV. TFS James

Una captura extraña Simon con excelente foco y agudeza mostrando un inusual punto de vista del ave en vuelo.
El acotado DOF, buen timing y los intensos colores completan una presentación interesante.
Gracias y saludos... Ricardo

A strange capture Simon with excellent focus and sharpness showing an unusual point of view of the bird in flight.
Enclosed DOF, good timing and the intense colors complete an interesting presentation.
Thank you and regards... Ricardo

Hi Sion,
Top shot and well timed. I think your shutter speed is fine...the action is stop in the important places (head and eyes) while the motion blur in the wings adds a great dynamic to the image.
Looks like you are clipping along with that D200.
Cheers
Paul

This is a fantastic shot, Simon.
A great study in the physics of flying.
His pose has an element of humour in it, but it is really interesting in terms of observing the position of the wings, tail, and feet in the process of flying.
I looked at your other post, and they are both excellent. I have to say I like this one better because of the comical look, but also because it does not have any shadows on the goose.
TFS. : )

Another great shot Simon! Great action with fab colours and good sharpness aswell. The POV is perfect as the Goose looks as though he is flying straigt into the camera. A wonderful composition.

ps: I am wondering whether you ever see them nesting in trees? I have read that they do sometimes.
