[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
We cancelled a planned trip to Martin Mere after discovering the boring lot from Autumnwatch were there for a week or so and instead went to Marsh Side at Southport. Expecting some Pinkfeet to fly into the far pool in front of the second hide we settled down for a wait. A pair of Magpies landed on the small island in front of the hide and one began bathing, something I had not witnessed before, and I took a few shots of it, one of which is posted here.
Camera settings:- ISO 400, AV, Spot metering, 1120mm focal length, 1.4 x converter, Auto White Balance and exposure, Remote shutter cord.

Hi Peter,
belle image de cette pie en train de se beigner, le mouvement est parfaitement saisi ce qui permet de figer les gouttes d'eau. La prise de vue est cependant un peu lointaine pour bien profiter des détails.
well done

Hi Peter,
Great action shot of this clean magpie. I always like the freeze of waterdrops. Well focused and good sharpness. Very good light and comp.

Hi Peter, I have only just caught this great shot. I do love watching birds bathing. I rarely see a Magpie bathing though. A great catch with all the action on the bird and water. As always, nice and sharp, well focused and nicely composed.
I watched Nature Watch last night and though Martin Mere looks fabulous, I shall try and visit sometime.......
tfs and best wishes
