A few hours ago I captured this Long-tailed tit. At least I think it is a Long-tailed Tit (Aegithalos caudatus).
Dedicate to Gert 'cause when I see such birds I think about his portfolio and work where you can often spot this kind of species. Further on also for his contribution to this community...
The image is cropped somewhat and shot at a high ISO.
Did some USM sharpening at the bird and blurred the background somewhat through Gaussian blur.
Due to the low light conditions the DOF could be an issue and it actually was, I picked this one 'cause through its pose the long tail isn't (is hardly) visible.
Shot in a nature environment called 'De Gavers'
Thanks for looking...

Hello Annick,
Very different point of view on this image, usually we see that long tail, but this is wonderful. What a cute face they have, Gert should be pleased. Thanks for your talents my friend.

Hello Annick,
lovely pic, nice capture of this cute little Tit, one of my favorite birds,
nice POV & focus,
Dejan

Hi Annick,
Awesome details and a very beautiful soft OOF BG. The framing with this much emptyness really makes it a pleasure to look at.

Hi Annick,
another great portrait, the POV from the front works really well and the eye contact is great. Sharp focus and excellent details as always, the composition is perfect - well done!
Paul

Hi Annick
Nice shot of this little Long-tailed tit. Don't forget that our Scandinavian Long-tailed tit have white head and that's the difference from rest of the Europe.
Well done and TFS
Ralf

Hi Annick,

Wondeful eye contact, and for me it is the most important feature in this unusual shot! The shallow DOF just accentuates this sensation of intimate confidence, no matter that the body isn't rasor sharp. Real masterpiece! Thank you,

Eugene

Hello My dear friend Annick!
A fabulous capture of the Long-tailed tit! I liked especially its eyes! Lovely:)
TFS friend!
Greetings,
Bayram

Bonsoir Annick
très bon focus sur la tête de cet oiseau, dont j'aime beaucoup l'expression. Il serait digne de figurer dans un dessin animé !
Magique !

Hi Annick.
What a cute little bird, stunning detail and excellent POV, stands out well against the soft background, Cheers Rick :)

Thanks, Annick, for your kind appraisal of my recent Squirrel picture.

I like the expression on the face of your Long-taied Tit. From your POV, it looks like a cute little ball of fluff and feather.
You have handled the Gaussian blur technique very deftly to remove BG noise. I am doing this quite frequently these days. IMHO, it is a better method than using any noise removal software, so long as you do not leave those tell-tale patches of noise here and there, especially around the outline of your subject.
TFS and regards.
Ram

hello annick,
the frontal pov makes this shot special, liked the pose and the eye contact very much,
well done as usual,

Hallo Annick,
Ze vliegen ook regelmatig rond mijn huis. Prachtige bolletjes met een lange staart. Schitterende opname met een fantastische focus op de kop, mooi licht en goed contrast met de donkere achtergrond.
Groet,
Peter

Excellent exposure, detail & colors Annick, luv the head-on POV & comp..Great job under low-light conditions.
And the long tail will just have to be left to ones imagination :}
