Hi Alexei,
Outstanding shot of this cute little bird with immaculate sharpness and great details on its white plumage. Superb lighting and exposure levels and on that fence it looks so elegant. Looks startled a bit losing its friend but has posed for you nicely. Excellent DOF, POV and composition. Kudos.

Ahhhh..but you did take time. In my world of photojournalism, it becomes a matter of great importance to record events which at times might seem intrusive. Although we are not paparazzi, we must follow certain guidelines and maintain a fine line between respect and decency. Some think taking images is easy, but not so. Technically many can learn but it takes a certain heart of compassion and understanding to know how to balance the technique with the moment. you describe such a shot here and do it very well. You would be a good man to have in the press business Alexi

So the theme here is "Don't worry, be happy" :))
I imagined "Family Happiness" to be slightly OE I think. After looking at it again, I was wrong (it happens sometimes) ;-)
Great exposure, DOF, detail, and an alert, let's say concerned pose..
Unless I'm imagining things again..It comes with old age I hear :)

Hi Alex,
You are right ...no one has the right to break a family's happiness, yet families live through break ups, and heart aches..True prayers and real love however, i believe, have the power to bring back lost love and happiness in any relationship.
The presentation you have here is a superb one, especially after one has had a look at the earlier shot from where the couple is seen together.The lady seems to be wondering what is your inteention and you know what ...i have a feeling..it's always the male who first flees the scene..i have seen it in the case of sparrows, sun-birds etc...and now in this case as well that you narrate...i wonder whether it's the same with others as well...

I love the dominance of the green hue all around in the composition and the sharpness and lighting just perfect.

I read your note with great interest. This is a real fine capture of a very elegant and proud looking bird. In my personal opinioun I prefer this one more than the first one with the two birds together. Everything in this photo looks beautiful. Great quality and a splendid image indeed. Forgive me, Alexei, for my delayed reciprocation to your kind critique on my hoverfly picture. I was somewhat busy these past couple of days.
You have described the expression on the face of this beautifully captured female bird very graphically in your note. She seems to be a little anxious why her companion has flown away.

Now that was naughty of you playing the paparazzi for these love stricken pair.:)The male must have been the famous one , that's why he took to wings first. But jokes apart, I have also noticed one thing.I may be wrong, but from my experience what i have felt is that the female birds are more risk taking and dare devils than the males.wonder why?
As for the picture it is beautiful like the other one. excellent POV, DOF and the pose captured. Good eye contact. Immaculate sharpness and details. And certainly a joy to behold.

Wow, a fabulous profile shot of this lovely Lesser Grey Shrike and I also liked your little story of the scene.

You have really captured this little bird with beautiful details. The aperture selection was spot-on to ensure a wide enough range for the DOF for guarantee you nail all the details. The exposure as also on the button to ensure perfect contrasts in the white plumage as there is no OE visible and also in the darker plumage as there is no UE visible there either. The colours are natural and pleasing on the eye, the composition is fine (although Christian's workshop also worked well), and the OOF and isolated BG with the neutral green colour makes the bird stand out so well.
