Stone Valley

| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
Hi folks,
Today I inivite You to a one-moment journey into Stone Valley, a unique part of Bükk mountains. It's located a few kilometers from a village named Cserépváralja, and it's famous for being an ex-volcanic area of these mountains (which are built up almost totally from limestone). The volcanos were active in the myocene era, a couple million years ago, but their "bombs" are still here, as You can see... The main stone here in and around the valley is ryolite.
I placed the photo into the "rain forest" category, because I thought it fits well, although I know there aren't real rain forests in Europe. But this valley's almost untouched, no forestry / sylviculture, and You can only go through it by Your feet, not with any jeeps at all...
PP: exposure and white balance correction, little curve adjustment, sharpening, framing. Than got a huge, >7 MB JPG, which I managed to re-size after a bit of suffering. But I'm afraid it didn't become sharp enough... I again "enjoyed" the disadvantage of file-size limit... But I hope You'll like this pseudo-rainforest somehow this way, too. |

Hello Laszlo!
This place looks like a very silent and peaceful area :) I like "V-shaped" natural composition and well saturated colours.
On the other hand it is a pitty that the picture is so small :)
Anyway, nice to watch this image.
Best greetings from Poland,
Radomir

Very well done and nice sharpness.

I can be hours looking for fungi and insects in places like this. As you say compression does no help in this kind of detailed and complicated photos, but I think you PP very well, it is clear and sharp. I like very much the depth which invites you to get into the photo for a walk :)
Thanks, Felipe.
