Good Morning Everyone,

I hope the day is as warm and beautiful wherever you are, as it is in N. England at the moment! I love to wake up with the sun!

Today, I am posting a shot of a dandelion which, in many ways, resembles the sun. This dandelion looks like the sun just emerging from behind the cloud of its own seed head! I saw the flowers in a nearby field and just could not resist the composition!

Here is some interesting information about the name 'Dandelion' taken from 'Botanical.com on the Internet:
The leaves are shiny and without hairs, the margin of each leaf cut into great jagged teeth, either upright or pointing somewhat backwards, and these teeth are themselves cut here and there into lesser teeth. It is this somewhat fanciful resemblance to the canine teeth of a lion that (it is generally assumed) gives the plant its most familiar name of Dandelion, which is a corruption of the French Dent de Lion, an equivalent of this name being found not only in its former specific Latin name Dens leonis and in the Greek name for the genus to which Linnaeus assigned it, Leontodon, but also in nearly all the languages of Europe.

Many thanks for stopping by.
I hope you found it enjoyable.
Please feel free to offer feedback on any aspect of the photograph. :-)

The camera was hand held.

Hi Bev

A lovely composition showing the flower and seed head. Great detail in the flower, plus the OFF seedhead really gives a good impression of its texture.

James

Hello Bev
What a great Idea to show the flower and seed head in one frame..The sharpness on the flower is awesome and the seed head retains a sense of mystery..(until some poor soul has to weed its efforts from thier lawn!!)
And you took it handheld..Stunning work and a brilliant post.
All the best for the week ahead
Paul

Hi Beverley.
Perfect selection of scene for capture. Two flowers are looked together greatly and symbolically. POV and DOF are great. All flowers are in focus and scenery is reproduced excellently too. My best wishes and compliments.

Hi Bev, very good composition, to get a double as good as this is not easy, both deeply contrasting in view and colouration. You have done well to do this, excellent work. regards h

Ah, the simple thing in life, all it beautiful, we just have to pay a little me attention, As small as the tiny little dandelion can bring much joy. Good job on caturing it, the newly bloom and the one that ready to pass on to the next generation. Thanks.

Hello Beverley,
Dandelions are very beautiful flowers although disliked by many!! This is a beautiful composition of the flower peeping out behind the seed head! Wonderful colours and sharp details too. Well done!

Hello Beverly,
This is just such a natural and fine picture. The contrast between the "be" and the "has been" is striking, but both aspects have their charm. Very original shot, great in its simplicity.
Best regards
Anne

Hi Bev,
What a fantastic photo, Madame! Sharp with nice colors, and the contrast between the blooming and the overbloomed flower is awesome. I bookmark it as a fave image.
